My expanded thoughts on the impact Cam Jurgens can make for the offense. He’s going to open up the playbook for Declan Doyle. #Ravens #RavensFlock @HuddleItUpFilms @4thdowntakes

It is time #RavensFlock
Here we go: #Ravens QB Lamar Jackson was a full participant in practice today for the first time since his ankle injury.

I liked Haynes as a prospect. @HuddleItUpFilms @Yuri_Ravens pretty sure this was one of the guys we wanted in the 3rd round in 2024. #Ravens #RavensFlock
Ravens have claimed G Christian Haynes, who was let go by the Seattle Seahawks after they traded for Quenton Nelson. Haynes, a Bowie, MD native, started five games for the Seahawks this year.

Getting Tampa back in the lineup should change the energy for the defense. When he played, he was mixing it up, coming downhill. He hits and plays physically. They need a better tackling presence on the boundary. #Ravens #RavensFlock

I mostly agree with Wink. And part of what I’ve been saying — you don’t need “vocal” leaders. You need to make clutch plays. The vocal leadership stuff is overblown. I’d like to see Teddye & Simpson play more often together. And Marlo’s snaps cut. That’s a start. #Ravens
“There’s trouble brewing” for the Ravens if Baltimore loses to the Buffalo Bills this week, Wink Martindale says. “They need to find some football character in that locker room.” Sees players making “business decisions” on the field. “The leaders are not representing the Ravens of old. Jesse’s a great coach. But Jesse needs to have some honest conversations, and I think Steve Bisciotti needs to have a real serious conversation with Eric DeCosta.” WATCH Wednesdays with Wink NOW on the Talkin’ Ball with Pat Leonard @YouTube channel, brought to you by @edge_marketsio youtu.be/Lafz7zps4M0?is=10yl…

The young players need to have the space to step up. Clearly the vets don’t care. This is where Jesse can have an influence. He’ll have to make some tough decisions.

Of all the opponents the #Ravens face, I probably have the most respect for Burrow. He’s a killer. But never talks about it. Always respectful. Simply goes about his business.
"Every drive just like that!" @JoeyB and @Real10jayy__ fired up the @bengals and refused to lose 😤

The #Ravens have matched up well with Buffalo. Even in 2022 w/ a lesser team. No, they haven’t finished these games. But they’re a foe they scrap with. Buffalo defense has been awful. And a healthy Lamar would probably do his share of damage. That’s what the line is only 3.5
Lamar practicing fully this week will ease some minds as they prepare for Buffalo. If Lamar plays and is as close to 100% as he’s aiming for, they’ll win. I have confidence in the Ravens defense to bounce back

Watching the Kordell Stewart doc last night & it’s hard not to see some parallels with Lamar. Kordell was asked to play WR. Ultimately he did. And people doubted his QB ability. Granted, Lamar has been a superior QB. But Kordell took those early slings & helped pave the way.

Granted, Malaki Starks hasn’t been anything special so far. But where are the folks who told me it was a crime that EDC drafted him over Simmons? You can’t always forecast how character and being a pro can translate to the next level. #Ravens #RavensFlock

They need to make plays. None of the vocal leadership & good feels matter lol. Look at Philly. They won a SB because of clutch plays & alpha mentality. They had playmakers. But they had plenty of drama. Players don’t care about the words like they used to. #Ravens #RavensFlock
Replying to @devpanchwagh
For sure, you’re never as bad as you look at your worst or as good as you look at your best, but our current group of vets, who should be our leaders, have - sadly - come up small when needed most for years now. Hard to ignore forever.

Lmao this dude. Who can take him seriously. The shade to 23 is immense.
Isiah Thomas says LeBron James and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar are the two greatest players of all time. “I don’t know if I can get to three others.” (h/t @NycVipers )

Lmao. The jokes write themselves on this one. Or is it Michael B. Jordan??
The Ravens signed veteran guard Michael Jordan to the practice squad.

Really good thread on the differences for anyone interested. Feedback from Colts fans, including one saying Nelson could pick where he wanted to go. Which is an interesting wrinkle.
Howie Roseman got a second round pick and fifth round pick for Cam Jurgens. The Colts got a third and fifth for Quenton Nelson. How? #Eagles #Colts

I don’t even understand this point. Nelson was made available after they started losing more games & fired Ballard. Well before the trade with Philly. The 2nd for Philly is in 2028 v. the 3rd in 2027. And they needed a center lol. Plus Jurgens is signed for longer and cheaper.
I’m an EDC defender but giving up a 2nd and a 5th for Cam Jurgens and seeing Nelson go for a 3rd and a 5th is a horrible and frankly indefensible look

The Seahawks are getting Nelson for 11 weeks (unless they re-sign him). I think people are totally overlooking the reality of his expiring contract. This isn't the NBA. My only criticism would be they could have waited longer, but whatever.

More context from Brian. Trades are not that simple to pull off and here’s an example of the complexity involved.
Nelson is due ~$10M for the balance of the yr. Ravens only have ~$1.2M in Cap space, so they would have had to restructure a deal or two or asked the Colts to eat some salary (which then have probably cost a 2nd). Seattle had enough Cap space to make the deal w/o Colts eating $.
