It’s been 50 years since Earl Campbell led our shared alma mater to a state title. But Earl means a lot more to Tyler, Houston and Texas than just football. Thanks to @houstonchron for a chance to tell his story once more. houstonchronicle.com/texas-s… via @houstonchron

Our new study, published today in @JAMANetworkOpen, estimates that 75% of NFL players who died between 2008 and 2023 had CTE. This is not a measure of all current or former players. It does not mean 75% of current players have CTE, and not everyone with CTE develops symptoms. The findings reinforce two priorities: supporting former players and families today, and reducing repetitive head impacts to protect future generations. CTE is serious, but this number should not mean hopelessness. Research is advancing, and we can improve care and make sports safer. Former players and families: you’re not alone. DM me to connect with support and explore research opportunities, if you’re interested.

I spent the first half of a 1999 Texas-Nebraska game running up and down the sideline with Lee, trying to keep up with him. He watched games with the same vigor he displayed as a coach. That day, and others, reflected the truth that any time spent with Lee Corso was a good time.
After 38 incredible years, Lee Corso is retiring ❤️ For multiple generations, Coach has been the face of our Saturday mornings and the sport we love. Our friend, our coach, our heart ... LC, you will forever be a College GameDay legend!

Five weeks ago, Mary Kate Cornett was a normal 18-year-old, thriving as a college freshman at Ole Miss. Then a false internet rumor destroyed her life. She wants those who amplified the rumor to be held accountable and to understand the human cost nytimes.com/athletic/6245376…

For with its worth, I timed Jon Batiste at 1:59.95 (119.95 seconds) for the Super Bowl National Anthem, measuring from his first note sung to the last note sung. I think the extra two lines repeated plus the addition of the word “it” added about 15 seconds.
