I’ve just learned that the behemoth labor historian Staughton Lynd has passed from this world. Staughton’s strong ethical commitments to a just world leave us with his powerful legacy. I’m so glad I had some time with him in Youngstown. Thank you, @dgorganize. Rest in Power. ✊🏾

This led to the end of an era...the last Google Walkout organizer has left the building Longtime observers say it fits a familiar pattern at Google. Women of color are asked to advocate for change. Then they’re punished for disrupting the status quo. washingtonpost.com/technolog…

New name. Really cool book that presents necessary questions and explores possible new paths forward without claiming to know exactly how we get out of this capitalist mess. In other words, good food for thought. Link here: theanarchistlibrary.org/libr…

Good morning! Last week, we reached a milestone: dues-payer *6,000* for this year! No check off, it's voluntary. Cesar Chavez said, even if all you collect is $1, you need to do it. Workers have to finance their own liberation. Here's to the 6K who are fueling ours:

management once told us we couldn’t use PTO during a bad Covid wave. One of the physicians here responded so nicely “please rescind this email and bargain with the union accordingly” Lmao id never seen power like that in my life and guess who didn’t have a PTO block out 😂

White collar union worker here 👋🏾👋🏾
Unions are for...workers. If you work, unions are for you. Capital owners made up, "unions are just for factory workers." Conscientious, thoughtful workers can end up absorbing this. But unions are for all workers, because maximizing profit and control is for all employers.

and listen, capital owners have no illusions about the value of collective action. they are organized for themselves.

This is the type of organizing approach my coworkers and I are using at our store. Here's why: Some of my coworkers have been asking for raises for months, only for HR to say we have to wait until the end of the year. Many were ready to quit until I proposed a forming a union.
Replying to @dgorganize
6) In the non-electoral approaches, the union (see #1 and #2) will fight directly to win on the most deeply felt worker needs and have a very broad canvas on how to do so and how they want to shape their workplace.

It’s been one week since we unionized REI SoHo! We’ve been celebrating our victory while resting up for the contract fight ahead. Thx to all the workers, customers, and members who have congratulated us or stopped by the store! This isn’t just a moment; it’s a movement. #REIunion

Thanks for stopping by to celebrate our #REIunion!❤️
Your boy is giddy because you know I had to come pay respects to the workers of @reiunionsoho @RWDSU. RW red is everywhere. Workers are delighted with their victory and focused on next steps in the struggle. Stay with them until all their needs are met.
