Full time thoughts for Bayern Munich vs. Borussia Dortmund
Was not our day today. Harry Kane and Michael Olise had a poor match. Part of my thinks Kane's new boots were bothering him. Maybe it's just superstition 😅
But he did square Upamecano for 2-1 and it was a great finish by Upamecano too. Most impressively, ge kept himself offsides and you can see the hesitation to do it. Really high IQ move.
Hopefully, Gnabry and Olise's injuries are nothing serious. It was a long week for those traveling for the Ballon d'Or and seems those that went were off today.
Thought it was a foul on Pavlovic. Unsure why it wasn't called. A foul is a foul.
I don't really think anyone had a standout performance. All level but really should have been Bayern Munich's three points but couldn't finish our chances.
Really frustrating draw.
Atletico Madrid up next on Tuesday... Will be a incredibly tough match away too.
First half thoughts for Bayern Munich vs. Borussia Dortmund
That was a rather thrilling first half. From VAR correctly overturning Dortmund's goal to Bayern Munich scoring 30 seconds later. I am surprised it even needed VAR... that was an obvious foul on Urbig.
Laimer definitely should have squared that to Harry Kane but credit to him for having the confidence to go at it himself... even if it was a lucky rebound right back to him.
The party has been somewhat spoiled as Bayern Munich lose Saibari and Gnabry to injuries. The board MUST act in the winter window. Or at least explore free agents still available. The injuries are piling up and we can't afford to run Kane and Olise into the ground by winter.
Other than a few good saves by both keepers, majority of the match was fairly even. Dare I say that Dortmund look much better than they have in recent years?
This is the perfect game for some Michael Olise magic.
Another 45 to go. Lets hope Bayern Munich it through it without more injuries.

"The players he gives the ball to don't have a striker in the box"
Also, Bayern Munich broke the record for the most goals scored in a season in the modern era (122) and the most in a season across all competitions (184).
I think they're onto something...

Full time thoughts for Bayern Munich vs. 1. FC Magdeburg
Much better second half from Bayern Munich. Alphonso Davies was excellent coming on. 1 goal and 1 assist and one penalty won.
Speaking of penalties, Michael Olise is so cold for that penalty. He's now up to 12 goals and 6 assists for Bayern Munich. 16 goals and 8 assists in all competitions.
I thought Lennart Karl had his best match of the season so far. Even though he only had one assist, he started the move on 4 of the 5 goals. Happy to see that from him! That foul on him in the 86th minute by McNulty was atrocious. Zero reason for that down 5-1... but massive credit to Pavlovic for responding and taking the yellow.
It was disappointing that Harry Kane didn't come on but the reaction from the fans at the weekend against Dortmund is going to be incredible.
It was great to see Tim Binder and David Santos Daiber to get their competitive debut for the club. Daiber capped it off with a great goal as well. So happy for him!
All in all, it was a great performance by the squad! Bayern Munich are flying high and on the weekend, we face Borussia Dortmund.
First half thoughts for Bayern Munich vs. 1. FC Magdeburg in the DFB Pokal
First, it's absolutely disgusting that there isn't an option to watch the match in the United States @FCBayernEN / @DFB. Do better please! Have a whole discord of fans who can't watch.
Onto the match though, you can see Aaron Danks' plan. Let them press and get out of their compactness and hit them on quick transitions.
Started off brightly with an excellent pass by Lennart Karl to release Ismael Saibari who made the right decision to square it to Michael Olise for the opener.
Olise turned provider on a very good through ball to Saibari and his chip was exquisite. Perfect finish on that move.
Olise now has 11 goals and 6 assists in 12 matches for Bayern Munich. Saibari, despite his a slow start is at 3 goals and 3 assists in 580 minutes.
Magdeburg got one back though through a deflection by Ito. Not much Urbig could do there.
This is the part of the season that seeing out wins becomes very important. Quite a few starting players still missing in Kimmich, Pavlovic, Diaz and Musiala. While our performances haven't perfect, I thought we played an okay first half. Could have been better though...our passing really needs some work
2-1 at halftime isn't a representation of how the first half went but we can't allow them back into the match. Really need to get a third one early in the second half and then control the match from there... don't want to pull an Arsenal...
Onto the next 45!

Harry Kane was surprised he won it because he's incredibly humble and is soaking it in.
Mbappe was upset he didn't win it because he convinced himself he deserved it.
Let that be a lesson in humility.
Dear @Sofascore
I am writing as a long term user of your platform. For an extended period I have relied on Sofascore to access detailed player and club statistics, and I used those data extensively while producing content around Harry Kane’s Ballon d’Or campaign.
I recently discovered that the same level of statistical depth is now restricted behind a €26 per month paywall. While I understand that new features carry development costs, this pricing structure places a significant barrier between the core football community and the information that has long supported analysis, debate, and engagement.
Football generates the clear majority of activity on the platform. Bayern Munich alone has roughly three million followers, far exceeding the following of other high profile teams in other sports. Placing the statistics that serve this primary audience behind a high monthly fee risks reducing both usage and the quality of discourse that makes the sport compelling. Not every supporter can or will pay that amount, and readily available alternatives already exist.
As a result, a growing number of users are choosing to leave Sofascore for FotMob in order to retain free access to comparable statistics. I would encourage others in the same position to share that they are making the same transition by the way...
I respectfully ask that you reconsider the current pricing model. Sustainable monetization is reasonable but a barrier that primarily affects the sport’s largest user base is less so. Football statistics have long been a shared resource that fuels rivalries, narratives, and informed discussion. Preserving broader access would better serve both the community and the platform’s long-term health.
Maybe it's just me...

Harry Kane had 73 goals and 8 assists in 65 matches and there's really people who think the second greatest scoring season of all time isn't worthy of the Ballon d'Or.

Harry Kane left the Premier League and got even better as a player and is, by far, the most complete player in the world.
Goals, assists, passing range, defensive workrate, etc.
Everything about him is class.
Harry Kane just won the Ballon d’Or and with it, football has been saved.
There was never any real doubt. No carefully manufactured narrative, no months of coordinated media tours, no quiet pressure campaigns dressed up as “legacy” talk. Just the best striker in the world doing what he has always done... scoring, leading, and delivering when it mattered most.
Kane didn’t need to be packaged or rebranded. He didn’t need the same three talking points repeated across every outlet until the votes arrived. He simply kept putting the ball in the net at the highest level while "influencers" of the industry tried to argue that volume and vibes should outweigh production. This is what the award is supposed to look like...a player who let his numbers and performances speak instead of outsourcing the conversation to PR machines and friendly columnists.
The numbers themselves are straightforward. 73 goals and 8 assists.
Beyond the goals though, his influence on teammates was constant. His defensive workrate was relentless. He made every player around him better and carried himself as the clearest winner and role-model.
His path makes the recognition even better. Every young player who has been released or doesn't walk into a World Class club can look at Kane and see someone who was cut by Arsenal as a kid, kept working, stayed loyal to the club that gave him a chance for many years, and eventually rose to the top of the sport. That journey still matters and is an inspiration to millions of fans around the world.
Kylian Mbappé leaves the ceremony exactly as he arrived...without the trophy. But his time will come.
Lamine Yamal finishes in the top three again, but his time will come too.
Both of them are incredible players too.
But today belongs to Harry Kane. It was an outstanding season, and the Ballon d’Or was fully deserved.
Really like the Socrates Award. I wish they had talked about all the incredible initiatives that players support.
Still, massive respect for Bukayo Saka... outstanding work!
