Spent yesterday teaching life writing in a prison and it was one of the most rewarding experiences I've had as a writer. I also learned that the only way to keep me from constantly checking my phone is to have a security guard place it in a locker behind a series of iron gates.

This month I'll be teaching writing in a prison and a retreat in the highlands and had my book added to another university reading list. I'd love to tell this to the middle school English teacher who called me a "thicko" but I can't remember their name. Thick of me, I know.
