Timelapse of the moon setting into streams of red and green aurora followed by a sunrise lighting up Soyuz with a light blue. The aurora have been amazing the past few days. Great timing for trying out a new lens that recently arrived on Cygnus. 15mm, T1.8, 1/3s exposure, 1/2 s interval

I was asked by @iRunFar to write a few words on Joss Naylor. There was far too much to write about someone who was an absolute pioneer, and lived an incredibly full life. You can read it at the link. Pic. Irunfar irunfar.com/joss-naylor-memo…

Terrible news. I loved Benjamin Zephaniah. We spent many hours in cars together over twenty years. He was a wonderful human being. Here he is talking about Shelley, saying sorry, and humiliation on Mastermind with us on Bunk Bed. archive.org/details/bbcr4bun…

One of my favorite timelapses from Churchill! When a small cloud bank suddenly appeared from the north and blocked the view of the brightening aurora, I was scared we would miss the pop. Fortunately, the clouds dissipated and the aurora waited to pop until we had a clear view!

Ah, now here's the good stuff. 😍 An HD image of a crescent-lit Earth beyond the limb of the Moon captured on Dec. 5, 2022 during #Artemis' return powered flyby. I removed some digital noise and upscaled the original image (images.nasa.gov/details-art0…). This'll be my new desktop.

When 2 groups of penguins meet on the road, they stop for a short exchange of information. When one of them moves in with the wrong group, a friend goes after him to bring him back🙂🐧🐧🐧

The Conservatives are an outstanding advert for sortition - the random selection of MPs from the general population by lot. The odds in favour of finding a better group of MPs by random selection must be staggering.

Possibly my new favorite shot of all time. I woke up at 1:30am this morning to capture a rare scene- the sunlit international space station transiting iconic craters over the last quarter moon.
