The real reason why some startups flounder is because CEOs/founders have no managerial experience or strong leadership skills, and simply don’t know how to build a high-functioning team. Instead, bizarrely, we see *employees* being perceived as the major problem at such places.

The most ill-conceived idea that seems to have ossified among certain group of people is that Twitter was failing because the engineering culture wasn’t high-performing enough The problem with Twitter was product and leadership, and not engineering not executing well enough.

I’m amazed how angry so many people are getting because I divided one number by another number without adding any commentary. You’re the ones deciding if that’s a big number or a small one, my friends.

More seriously, I think it’s truly sad that there are people who think so little of themselves, deep down, that they will intentionally sacrifice their time and relationships and energy…just to make somebody else rich. It’s a goddamn greek tragedy

Still for sale and making her money tho
To Trump: You had your chance, with a Republican House and Senate. You handed domestic policy to your son-in-law and Gary Cohn. You handed foreign policy to your son-in-law and a country that gave your son-in-law $2 billion. Shut the fuck up, forever.
Update: a legal employee wrote on Twitter's internal Slack how they do not personally believe that Twitter employees have an obligation to return to the office *on no notice*. It's a fundamental change to employment contracts.

As always, Stripe is a cut above the rest when it comes to execution, including layoffs. - leadership accepts blame (whoa, this must be a first) - support with immigration for laid off employees - alumni email Having an alumni email address is something every company should do.
Replying to @GergelyOrosz
A rare to see reflection on “where did leadership make the mistake?” An addition: Adyen employs ~2,200 people, so a third of Stripe. Similar gross bookings processed. Clearly, we’re seeing the “hire first, get to profitability later” strategy backfire in the current economy.

I'm finding it real hard to care if the CEO gets fired and loses his golden parachute after forcing a sale the rank and file didn't want, the C staff didn't really want, the users didn't want, and the buyer offered everyone a chance to just walk away.

Whether it’s liberals interrupting Brett Kavanaugh‘s meal with a chant, or conservatives interrupting Paul Pelosi‘s evening with a hammer blow to the head, both sides have a problem respecting the privacy of public figures.

I’m sorry, but this is bullshit. An open letter to the President, with a dozen signatories, during the final weeks of a campaign is not something a rouge staffer drops without your involvement. It was a bad letter. Own it, retract it, but don’t blame the intern.
Just in: Progressive Caucus Chair Rep. Pramila Jayapal *withdraws* letter urging Biden to pursue negotiations with Russia. Says the letter "was released by staff without vetting" & makes clear signatories are not aligned with Republicans casting doubt on future US aid to Ukraine

Always weird to see a Metro train showing a station that isn’t the line’s normal terminus. The blue line ends at REAGAN NA AIR during construction

Companies shouldn’t use their sub-par videoconferencing setups (Amazon Ping, Cisco WebEx, Microsoft Teams) with external folks, it just makes them look bad. Pay for a subscription with one of the front runners or invest in your own product so it isn’t embarrassing.

Why aren't we approaching tech oligarchs in the same way we did 1800s railroad barons?
