Ekiden is an order book-based derivatives exchange, so every trade starts with liquidity already sitting on the book or an order coming in to take it.
If your order rests on the book and adds liquidity, you’re the maker.
If your order matches against existing liquidity and executes immediately, you’re the taker.
From there, the flow is straightforward:
Order → Matching Engine → Execution → Settlement on Canton
The matching engine handles price-time priority and execution. Once matched, the resulting trade is settled through Canton’s infrastructure.
That distinction matters because maker and taker orders interact with liquidity differently, affect execution differently, and carry different fees.
Understanding that flow is one of the basics of trading efficiently on Ekiden.

No sane or rational person would say continuing the war to try and take more of Ukraine's territory is worth the casualties.
