The @AcademyD20 Superintendent rolled out a library review committee at the 1/18 board meeting… which was news to their librarian staff.
During the 1/4/24 @AcademyD20 board meeting, board president @aaronsalt cuts the mic during two public comments when parents try to address this event
In this video, then candidate Derrick Wilburn, reads graphic book passages at an event for children: instagram.com/reel/Cx4Be3Xsp…
Also interesting to note that @AcademyD20 board director Derrick Wilburn has had several parents using public comment time to talk about how he read explicit book passages to their small children during a student led candidate forum
the board meeting also had some strange attendees: @CPANColorado for one as well as Bill Sawvel, the parent who tried and failed to get @MichaelAllen4DA to bring criminal charges against librarians
@AcademyD20 Superintendent Haberer also referenced obtaining the books to be reviewed from the website “Booklooks”bookriot.com/moms-for-libert…
2/2 We’ve been contacted by several staff members who were in attendance who are extremely concerned over this as it violates current district policy
It’s also interesting to note that the timeline looks to avoid new proposed legislation around library content:

In 2022 we saw the worst side of humanity too often. The suppression of critical thought, the attack on our children, families, and our public school system (victims included students, teachers, librarians, and other decent Americans).
In #2023 we fight back. #notonourwatch

We are $500 away from our goal! Help us help kids like Gabe whose civil rights are threatened by well funded politically backed extremists.

Awestruck by our CA chair who had a few choice words for her school district as they put forth a racist curriculum. #notonourwatch #dofd #moregoodthanbad #crt

Still not sure what part of our objectives make us “extreme leftists”
