World-leading cardiac surgeon Asif Hasan was surrounded by the children who received the gift of life thanks to his unerring skills at the emotional climax of another memorable Pride of Britain ceremony. 🥹 Now 70 years old, Mr Hasan has just retired after 35 years of service at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle upon Tyne, but just after receiving his Lifetime Achievement Award, he had an extra special surprise: a cast of patients who would not be alive without him. ❤️

UPDATE: A government source has told The Daily Telegraph that the PM is ‘exploring every option’ to stop these two from being released early. More than three quarters of a million have signed a petition. People power.
PC Andrew Harper was a hero. He risked his life to keep us safe. The 28-year-old lost it in the line of duty after being dragged behind a car for more than a mile. His injuries were so catastrophic a colleague at the scene couldn’t recognise him. His new bride became a widow within a month of their wedding. Now two of the men responsible for PC Harper’s death (seen here) are set to walk free at the halfway point of their sentences. Harper’s Law already exists. It was passed in Andrew’s name to ensure those who kill emergency workers face tougher sentences. But it doesn’t apply retrospectively. If the law named after Andrew Harper can’t prevent the men responsible for his death being released this early, what was it for? Read the room, prime minister.

Tragic news from Pakistan: Dr. Sheikh Mahmood Ahmad was brutally shot multiple times after Friday prayers in Sargodha today. Another Ahmadi killed for his faith. إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ May Allah grant him mercy and strength to his family. #AhmadiApartheid

My condolences to Mr Cheema’s family and friends and to all the @Ahmadiyya community on behalf of @APPG_Muslim. A senseless & terrible act of violence against a community that believes in ‘Love for all and hatred for none’
A violent mob attacked and killed an #Ahmadi Muslim today in #Karachi. Mr Laeeq Cheema was brutally beaten to death after Friday prayers — simply for his faith. Another shocking example of rising anti-Ahmadi hate in Pakistan. More details: stopthepersecution.org/viole…

Just a day after this horrific incident where laique Ahmad cheema sahib was brutally murdered, an earthquake struck the capital of Pakistan the very place where all major decisions are made. For God’s sake, wake up before it’s too late. – at Tongham, England

TLP is neither a religious nor a political party, it operates as a mob, and in truth, a terrorist organization. It should not only be banned, but its leaders must also be held accountable for the brutal murder of an innocent Ahmadi Muslim in Karachi yesterday. – at Tongham, England
