ALT Against a purple and blue background sits a quote from Susan Cole, Co-founder of Phoenix Health Movement reading: ...representation is not simply showing Black bodies, in HIV campaigns supposedly for us but not by us. Too often engagement seems tokenistic. We are asked to be photographed, share our “stories” but not our expertise... Meaningful representation is people from Black and other marginalised communities shaping campaigns at every stage, with genuine coproduction. Ideally, we should be leading campaigns.

ALT Against a purple and blue background sits a quote from Susan Cole, Co-founder of Phoenix Health Movement reading: Representation also means financial equity. There can be deeper ethical failure in HIV campaigns. We are routinely asked to share our trauma and lend our credibility without fair financial compensation. Real representation means paying community consultants properly. Funding smaller community organisations who regularly struggle financially despite incredible expertise, adequately. Representation must include economic justice.

ALT Against an orange and yellow background reads "HIV wasn't in my plans" Jose's experience of living with HIV - in his own words. Next to this text is a picture of Jose, smiling.

ALT Against an orange and yellow background reads "HIV is both a personal and universal experience. Personal because we are all unique and have a different story to tell. Our identities vary and shape the multiple ways in which we belong... Universal because we all understand the impact of receiving an HIV diagnosis. We know the mixed feelings that come with sharing your status. We’ve been hurt by stigma and discrimination. We’ve become grateful for the treatment we receive." ALT Against an orange and yellow background reads: Please never forget that your experience matters, that all your feelings are valid, and that you are not alone. Life won’t always be easy, and living with a long term health condition won’t always be charming. But within you there is everything needed to move forward, everything that connects you to a bigger community and everything that makes you worthy.
