🚨LATEST: NEAR Intents’ $3.8M hacker has RETURNED every dollar.
Less than 24 hours after NEAR Intents publicly identified the alleged exploiter and gave them 48 hours to return the funds, the attacker sent the full $3.8M back.
The hacker also left an on-chain message acknowledging they were “in the wrong,” thanking the team for handling the return respectfully and urging NEAR to use bug bounties instead.
NEAR says the investigation is now being stopped following the full recovery.
⚡️UPDATE: The NEAR Intents attacker has RESPONDED.
The NEAR Intents recovery wallet received 1 BNB with a message saying:
“Willing to cooperate, reply with your Signal so contact is possible.”
The sender address is tagged on BNBScan as “NEAR Intents Exploiter 1” and was previously identified by ZachXBT as one of the primary addresses tied to the exploit.
The response came within Alex Aurora’s 48-hour window offering a path to cooperate, return funds and potentially receive a bounty.
If negotiations hold, the exploit could move toward RECOVERY rather than a prolonged laundering attempt.

Excited to see @near_intents showcased in @Oracle point of sale to bring stablecoin payments into day to day lives
And huge props to @svrn_ai for driving it
We spent the past few months working with @Oracle and @NEARProtocol on a proof of concept that puts stablecoin payments inside Simphony, the Oracle point-of-sale system running checkout at food and beverage venues worldwide. Oracle brought in SVRN as a commercialization partner of NEAR, to design a solution for integrating @near_intents' coordination infrastructure with Simphony.
Payment settlement is moving onchain for practical reasons that Oracle and other large payment infrastructure providers can no longer ignore. Cards authorize in seconds, then the merchant often waits days for the money. Onchain settlement finishes in seconds, costs less, and the funds are ready to use nearly instantly.
The larger opportunity will arrive when agents start doing the buying. NEAR Intents is well positioned to serve that future, and Oracle's writeup on our collaboration points right towards it.

Bermuda is setting a standard for governments’ use of AI for handling citizen data with @near_ai. When a public servant submits their personal data to AI, even the infrastructure provider shouldn't be able to see it. The @NEARProtocol is becoming post-quantum-safe. See below for the roadmap to quantum safety, starting with adding a quantum-secure signing scheme in Q2.
We originally built the protocol with expectation cryptography will need to change due to progress in quantum computing. We knew there would be a need to expand the cryptography set, so NEAR allows multiple signing schemes by design and users will be able to use whichever one they prefer. We also design NEAR account model to not depend on any particular cryptography and allow to manage keys as "devices".
We’re proactively releasing the first quantum-safe signing scheme this spring, the first of many. Allowing wallets and partners to add support to it and users to secure their accounts early. We want to give users as much time as possible to rotate their keys in a proactive way and have piece of mind.
In parallel Near One is going to upgrade cryptography across secure the rest of the protocol. More to come on this, but I'm excited for these steps and I feel NEAR is well-positioned to lead in the quantum transition for our space.
