At Blackbird Studio, Nashville

Like the creative spirit itself, the Kennedy Center is unvanquishable. I was honored to play there some years back, with such appreciation that these stories of people I've met along 200,000 Greyhound miles found themselves there too. Like Karen in her 60s — a prostitute who became a minister — who said, 'Would this road ever take me where I don't belong. It's not failure to learn.'

In Mobile, Alabama, listening down with producer Trina Shoemaker to a vocal just sung for the title track of a new record, "Hymns for the Highway." Produced by Trina Shoemaker and David Henry. With Dora Pereli, background vocals. Tim Hillsdon, drums. Josh Rigal, bass. David Henry, organ and percussion.

The BBC documentary for radio — The Greyhound Diaries — with stories and songs from some of my recent bus travels, had its first run and can be heard here! bbc.co.uk/programmes/m001ry7…

"Edge of Everywhere" is made up of the stories of others who have affected me deeply, including Hector who I met on the Greyhound years back and who share the tragic story of his son Angelo, who was shot by in errant bullet in a gang related car chase and shootout. Hector would become a dear friend, and would also help me to come to terms with my father's suicide. I've seen on the bus, whether it's the veteran who feels he failed his brother in arms in Afghanistan, or the daughter who feels she wasn't there for her mother when she became addicted, ultimately we learn from each other how to forgive ourselves. I'm so grateful for Hector in my life, all by a chance interaction on a Greyhound.

The "Born in West Virginia" lyric video is out now! Made this one myself and thought about a veteran I met reflecting on his life while looking out the front window of a bus on a winding road at night - video I took thinking about this song.
