Today, we welcome the Province’s decision not to proceed with the proposed Overdose Prevention Site at 900 Helmcken Street.
We thank the elected officials from both the municipal and provincial government, including representatives from the Ministry of Health, MLA @terryyungyvr and @KenSimCity and Council, for listening to the concerns of our community. We also thank Downtown Van’s Policy Advisory Council and Board of Directors; Destination Vancouver; and the Hospitality Vancouver Association for their advocacy on this issue.
Community voices matter.
Today, Health Minister Ravi Kahlon called me personally to confirm that the proposed 900 Helmcken drug injection site will not move forward.
Thank you to the residents, businesses and community members who stood together, made their voices heard, and advocated for public safety and better, more compassionate care for our most vulnerable.

Looking back at another fun-filled week at the Granville Pedestrian Zone ! ✨
From live music with the VSO School of Music Granville All Stars and several dance workshops to giveaways with Dublin Calling, Vogue Theatre and Good Co, there was no shortage of excitement. We also brought the fun with the Felix Cartal pop-up, BC Lions inflatable toss, Air Hair Salon tinsel, photo booth, and a Love Island-inspired weekend packed with themed events. ☀️💃🏈📸
