The province is opening more jails and hiring corrections officers and police officers, but not teachers, support staff, nurses or doctors. Make that make sense @fordnation The need for jails will increase if kids don’t get what they need. Invest in education first!

Hmm... @PaulCalandra cancelled all debates, scheduled up to & including May 13, didn't notify anyone, locking out parents, the community, education workers who were ready with receipts. He had to have secret midnight meetings to get this bill passed. His corruption is stunning.

NEW: The Ford government tried to quietly close the public feedback period on its new education bill, changing the deadline to submit comments from May 13 to May 4 without notice. They reversed course after we asked why they were limiting public input:

Bill 101 has passed without meaningfully addressing feedback from education partners.
The OPC remains concerned about the impact on students, increasing workload pressures for principals and vice-principals and the potential for disruption across Ontario’s education system.
Read our statement below. principals.ca/en/who-we-are/…

ALT Public Statement Bill 101 Passes Without Key Concerns Being Addressed May 6, 2026 The Ontario Principals' Council (OPC) is disappointed that the government has passed Bill 101, the Putting Students First Act, without meaningfully addressing the concerns raised by education partners, including the three provincial principals' associations. Sad day for public education with the passing of Bill 101.
Education workers and support staff, such as custodians, deserve respect and to be heard. Instead, this bill centralizes more power in the hands of the Education Minister while doing little to actually improve student success.
Ontario students, parents, and education workers deserve better. #onpoli #onted @osstf @ETFOeducators @OECTAProv @AEFO_ON_CA
