Delighted to share our latest story on identifying human and mouse vascular stem cells, the crucial cell type involved in both development and regeneration. Fun fact: there are two types of vascular stem cells and their synergic effect is required for functional vessel formation.
Novel vascular stem/progenitor cells identified in mice and humans form functional vessels and rescue ischemic damage in vivo. @drchuckchan @CellStanford @StanfordSurgery

Very proud of Shaneice, the first postdoc from our lab to get a K99 award! Her work looks at the effect of CHIP mutations on human macrophage function. Looking forward to seeing her amazing science progress !!
It’s official!! I’m overjoyed to share that I have been awarded a K99 through the #NIHMOSAIC program! I want to thank my advisor @jaiswalmdphd and committee members for their support through this process!

Dr. George Yang was one of the most influential mentors of my career. Being his “lab of 1” @StanfordSurgery was an incredible experience and privilege. I hope to honor his memory by living with the wisdom that he shared with me over the years. Rest In Peace, my mentor and friend.
Rest in peace, George - dear friend, surgeon, mentor, scientist, and family to so many & founding member of @AsianAcadSurg. We will always remember, cherish, and honor your legacy. Til our next toast together, George.

Dr. Yang was a fierce #heforshe advocate both as a mentor and in proposing this topic for research- looking at the effect of estrogen on skeletal stem cells. Both have led to fruitful results and lasting effects on the scientific world.

It is bittersweet to see the late and great Dr. George Yang's work published. What began as the last project of my research fellowship has been beautifully brought to completion by @LongakerLab and @drchuckchan et al! Thank you! pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3631…
Humble thanks to our wonderful team members, collaborators and supporters who made these investigations possible.
