I am a doctor on the frontline in A&E that has been dealing with #COVID__19
£700k has been spent destroying my career and my family's security just to cover up important things I was saying about Intensive Care resourcing.

Why is @AngelaRayner betraying the victims of Grenfell by enacting yesterday highly subjective remediation guidance that :
1) Allows house builders to leave unlawful building safety defects on buildings.
2) Encourages multiple phases of remediating buildings. Which phase is considered safe? Who pays for each phase?
3) Makes it possible for two completely opposite fire engineering conclusions to both be true.
Thanks to @BBCNews and @PhilH23 for covering this appalling PAS9980 guidance yesterday.
3 continents in one week.
A stroke in Tunisia and a bike accident in China.
Both now safely in UK hospitals.
Time for a rest.

BREAKING NEWS!
The engineer who built Claude Code from scratch just released a 28-minute video that's pure gold: how to write prompts that deliver ridiculously good results.
I've seen $300 courses that don't even come close to what he explains in the first 10 minutes.
CLAUDE.md files, memory shortcuts, parallel sessions, and prompting patterns that almost no one uses...
All in one single video. Completely free. No fluff.
Whether you're a developer, just starting, or have already been using Claude for months, this changes the game for you starting today.
Save. Watch. Share.
"When you start out as a doctor there are many things you expect to lose: sleep, weekends, vitamin D, any realistic hope of owning a property.
What you do not expect to lose is whistleblowing protection for the entire nation’s doctors during a court hearing."

Dr Sridharan Suresh took his own life after being notified by the GMC that he was under investigation.
We are supporting an appeal all the way to the Supreme Court in a pivotal case regarding duty of care. Doctors deserve a regulator that safeguards their wellbeing while protecting patient safety.

A privilege to attend the launch of Sir Norman Lamb’s Be More Human: Why Mental Health Care is Broken – and What We Can Do to Fix It.
@normanlamb spoke powerfully not only as a former Health Minister and former Chair of South London and Maudsley, but as a brother who lost his sister to suicide.
The book challenges a mental health system that can be fragmented, overly medicalised and focused on crisis, and makes the case for prevention, continuity, community, dignity and human relationships - asking not simply “what is wrong with you?” but “what matters to you?”
Tonight we heard vivid accounts from those harmed by the current system alongside professionals pioneering a more humane way of delivering care and showing that another approach is possible.
I wish more doctors could have heard what I heard tonight but they can still read the book!
An important and deeply human book that deserves a wide audience.

The public are not safe with this rulling.
The GMC has a statutory responsibility to protect the public. If, rather than properly discharging its regulatory functions, it seeks to evade the duties and standards of competence expected of it as the regulator of doctors, the consequences extend far beyond individual doctors. Such conduct risks actively undermining public protection, patient safety, and the effective provision of healthcare in this country.
At a recent Court of Appeal hearing, the GMC continued to argue that it doesn't have a duty of care to doctors. This comes after an NHS doctor tragically took his own life within hours of receiving a letter from the regulator.

ALT Graphic with the headline: “The GMC says it has no duty of care to doctors”. A quote attributed to a Court of Appeal judge asks whether the GMC’s position is that it has effective impunity, can make mistakes in its communications, cause harm to registrants, and then say it has no duty of care so cannot be sued. A response attributed to counsel for the GMC reads: “Yes... I think that has to be our position.” BMA logo at the bottom.
Whatever your view on assisted dying, doctors need to be protected.
We have worked on legislative proposals across England, Scotland, Jersey and the Isle of Man to secure safeguards for doctors in legislation, such as the explicit opt-in model - whereby only those doctors who to positively choose to provide the service are able to do so.

“It was an awful decision. He stopped turning up for appointments so they discharged him. How ridiculous is that?” says Lamb. “It’s a red flag that someone has disappeared from services. They’re the people who you ought to be most concerned about.” The risk should have been spotted, he says. “There had been significant violence.”
I hope the Nottingham Inquiry recognises this front and centre @nottsinquiry
A beautifully written article by Damian Whitworth, shows the love Sir Norman Lamb had for his sister. Very emotive and moving. @normanlamb
it’s plain to see clarity that pain brings.
I also acknowledge that this generation could revolutionise help for mental health sufferers.
If we get the right people to do it…..

A complaint about my use of the word 'noctor' on Twitter.
Nice. Esp because I thought I was being polite.
All sorts of other words I could have used.
And if I have 'distaste' it's because I object to patients dying and rural health being trashed.
The new Prime Minister and Health Secretary rightly recognise that the NHS is a system on the brink of collapse. But a month on from consultants in England voting in favour of industrial action, the government have missed our deadline to agree to meaningful talks.
Mike Henley (@trentconsultant), deputy chair of the BMA consultants committee, argues that ignoring the views and feelings of the tens of thousands of doctors keeping the system running is a huge mistake. bma.org.uk/news-and-opinion/…

Turns out the biggest suppressor of whistleblowers in the NHS is the NHS itself.
🚨 EXC: NHS England has suppressed the work of investigators carrying out dozens of national clinical audits. NHSE has stopped investigators alerting media, watered down recommendations and limited the way their reports are written, published and used: thetimes.com/uk/healthcare/a…
