We gave them "rest sessions" where I had to flip a sign every hour saying the rays were resting, the sign was bright red and as the people cleared out they would sink back to the bottom of their enclosure. But the nanosecond they saw me turn the sign they would swim right back up

I worked at the zoo as a teenager and we had one of these tanks and it's actually fascinating that rays LOVE to be petted. They would start making their way to the water's surface when the lights turned on in the morning and practically lunge themselves into your hand.
