There are many more complex strings than simple strings, so odds of getting a simple string from a key generator are tiny. You are confusing the probability of classes (the way the number looks) with the probability of individuals (the actual number). Only the latter is uniform
it might sound counterintuitive but mathematically this combination has the same probability of being randomly generated as any other

And by "you" i really mean "other people" in this discussion

Sonic fans trying to make this about skill issues to distract you from the fact that most of the level just stops you from running for no reason, completely killing the momentum of a game that's meant to be about going fast
watch some sonic fan say these were my fault😂🤫🤫

It only works in SotC because of the eerie and desolate atmosphere. Would have worked in Twilight princess but the rest of Zelda is too childish.
Thats Shadow of the Colossus, and its goated. high key botw should have less stuff in it

The problem with twitter's "attention is all you need" service model is that simple ideas like "video games are sometimes a waste of time" have to be turned into contempt-fuelled aggressive statements like "if you play video games you have sacrificed your soul" to engagementmaxx
the more i think about it the more video games as a concept the more they horrify me. just a machine for totalizing disassociation which consumes days or years and leaves you with nothing

parrying gameplay is uninteresting because it asks very little of the player outside of the timing check and the reason something like sekiro is enjoyable is in spite of the parrying and by the virtue of how good they are at framing it through sound, animation and spectacle

You talk about immersion like it's something separate from gameplay. Immersion IS gameplay, the level of connectivity a player feels will influence the way they go about navigating your ruleset. Your issue is with forced realism, which is in conflict with the ruleset.

Good point about RTS, althought I suspect those are influenced by a heavy dose of historical larp, just speaking from 4x experince. FPS are totally undermined by immersion as a value from the start, the desire for the games to on some level represent irl sensibilities

Immersion is just a way of improving player connectedness to the game so that each action carries more real emotional weight. Gun sounds are a form of immersion that is essential to gameplay, for example. You couldn't just replace them with duck noises and have the same game.
The only field western developers take seriously in terms of game design is puzzle games Everything else is undermined by prioritizing concepts like immersion or roleplay

No, exploration is intrinsically enjoyable
There is not a single recent Metroivania that wouldn't be improved by taking its assets and converting it to a linear stage based platformer.

I enjoyed Mania but Sonic is a bad game at its core. There's not enough screen space to react to obstacles and the obstacles stop you flat instead of slowing you down, which is too frustrating for a game that is meant to be about going fast. No good level design is saving it.
As a level designer, I think people don't realise how easy this shit is to design and the science behind making mediocre players believe that they are actually playing something with any depth. Perfect level design for people who clap like seals to spectacle.

Everyone hates the witcher 3 combat which makes me feel like my teenagehood was a lie, i remember it feeling nice and weighty. I guess I have to try it again.
I feel like The Witcher 3 alternates between boring dialogue and a clunky combat. I'm sorry.

If the source code for Celeste wasn't available, could you vibecode it? I don't think you could, given how detailed and specific the movement is. You would only capture surface-level features.

An increasingly important reminder in the coming slop era: You do not have to let other people's anxieties be your anxieties.
A lot of you are coping, AI animation is 95% of the way there and you should be terrified instead of lying to yourself

It's incredibly weird how games are now required to have an inspiring development story and a developer with the Correct beliefs if they want to succeed in certain markets. All the focus is on developers now, the actual game is secondary.
im genuinely convinced that some of yall would play a fully ai generated game as long as the gameplay is good

Its a bit ridiculous to claim you are an auteur and then need literally 100s of millions of $ and the hottest hollywood commodity (in the case of Robert) to bring your vision to life. Hes not the only Japanese director incapable of small intimate games but hes an egregious case

At least one aspect of my gamedev career is safe from AI
Code-generated pixel art part two. One turn each. Astra's just showing off but there's definitely a certain old school charm to Fable's.

I genuinely think the old hyrule field looks better. The lack of detail fills me with intrigue, the noisy textures are dreamlike, the empty landscape is lonely and mysterious. I could write poetry about it.
what do u want from me here
