I’m writing a book. It’s called Goonworld. It’s not about gooning. Or it is, metaphorically. But mostly it’s about post-COVID culture writ large—the range of, let’s say, unusual online forms/tendencies that have emerged this decade and that have in various ways altered the texture of contemporary reality. Sort of a travelogue. A journey to the heart of slop etc. Out via FSG eventually!

this is as good as everyone has been saying. incredibly funny, equally depressing and distressing, written with the charisma of a great writer. couldn't ask for much more thebaffler.com/salvos/paid-p…
LA folks — I'm very excited to be interviewing director Rafael Manuel live onstage after a screening of his film Filipiñana, which I keep describing as "the Beau Travail of Caddyshacks." HMU if you want to come.
