I’ve realised there’s TOO MANY dramas going on in the timeline. Let me share something that’s ACTUALLY great for us Malaysians to share! My friend Dr. Suraya has become one of the FIRST in the world to USE NANOTECHNOLOGY TO MAKE PLANTS GROW FASTER! 🫡 🧵

“Where’s home?” People ask me. 10 years ago, serendipitously, me, a girl from Beijing, came to live in a small town in New Hampshire. My landlords are an old couple, who didn’t just take me into their home, but made this little place in the mountains home FOR me. Medical school was hard. I was rather new to the country, and getting through an abusive relationship. My landlords fed me when I couldn’t bring myself to cook; they washed my clothes when all I did was staying in bed. Recently I learned they protected me from getting stalked. Without them, and many others, I couldn’t have made it through. This little place on the river became a dream, in which I could rest and heal. “Why don’t you come home?” They asked me after learning I would be in New England for a fellowship. Yesterday, after I arrived, I saw that everything stayed exactly the same from my memory. Due to old age, they never rented the place again after me. The past is long gone, and I am different now. I have more space in my heart for those who love me. And I’m determined to make that space a cozy home for them, like they once did for me. “Where is home?” People ask. I am home.

Never tell your daughter that when a boy is mean or rude to her it's because he has a crush on her. Don't teach her that abuse is a sign of love. Make your daughter so capable that you don't have to worry who will marry her! Instead of saving money for her wedding day, spend it well on her education and most importantly, instead of preparing her for her marriage, prepare her for herself! Teach her confidence. Teach your daughter economic independence so in the future, she can have a partner, not a master. Teach her it's not about being beautiful. Teach her to be bold. Be strong. Be real, in a world full of fake. Let's redefine beauty.

Today, I was on the redline train and I suddenly saw a woman reading my book, Some Kind of Girl. I decided to talk to her. Me: Excuse me. How is that book? Any good? Her: Yes, it’s for my class. It’s good. *she looks at the cover, looks at me* Her: Oh my God! It’s you! Me: Yes. It’s me. 🥹 You should have seen how she lit up. My day is made. 🥹😭🙏🏾

“Mine! Mine!” As your toddler develops independence and an increasingly sophisticated sense of self, so too do they develop a new concept: possession. Toddlers aren’t legendary for their their interest in sharing - and their growing vocabulary shows it, with the words “my” and “mine” taking newfound prominence. This can lead to conflict, particularly with other toddlers, who may claim equally strong interest in a toy or other object. Meltdowns and biting may occur, so keep a watchful eye. While this hyper-possessive phase can be frustrating at times, it’s important to recognize it for what it is: an important conceptual breakthrough. Not only does your child now recognize him/herself as an independent person, but understands that there are items that can belong solely to them. With time this understanding grows in sophistication, allowing for the understanding that something can simultaneously be “theirs” and still be shared with others. This video, for which I sadly could not identify the original source, is one of my all time favorites. For me it’s not just the “mine, mine” but the disapproving head shake at the end. Classic toddler behavior.
