I’ve been reading a lot of comments about how he is still limping, hasn’t fully recovered and is being rushed back. I’ve had ACL surgery, and that injury is probably one of the most traumatic things a player can go through. When you come back, mentally, you tend to overprotect the injured leg. This can mean landing softly on that leg when you run, which can make it seem like you’re limping, holding back from challenges and strapping the knee for extra support, even when it’s fine. I doubt Chiefs would have allowed him to return if he wasn’t ready, but none of us knows his actual medical status. I didn’t play football at his level too when I had my operation, so I’m not saying that because I went through all of the above, he must be going through the same thing. However, what I’m seeing looks familiar to what I went through. Over time, you start trusting your leg again.
