the guy who helped build India’s backpacking culture with Zostel is now building a global product-building culture from India. if you’ve stayed at Zostel, you know the vibe. now @dvcoolster is bringing that same energy to builders through @BLRxZo, hosting hacker houses almost every month.

We are hill climbing. Soon - there will be another addition on the TabArena on @huggingface LFG!
“Tabular foundation model”: I am building & innovating in this space. This is an important video for all the people in my circle to know and understand. I have been writing about why the only defensible moat is “accrued knowledge” & no “engineered harness” comes close to it. Building a specialized foundation model is one of the most important and challenging task. I am proud of myself and my team to continue to stay updated around these changing times. I moved to SF & its one of the most important part of making this idea successful. Before pushing this post, I was waiting for some work to be done on our end and we have started to now hill-climb. There are and will be challenges but we are pushing through those walls like a breeze now because of the intellectual depth we have as a team. I want to highlight few more important things here related to the research part. I want to take pride in saying that we have been now matching the mindset of the frontier research in this field. The approaches generally that we come out are mostly end up being available in arxiv. The beautiful part is that these all research are mostly <3-4 months old. It means that we are almost on the frontier of this game. And since we thought of it originally completely out of our personal Pain, we have original approaches to solve it and we are not dependent on these research papers but seeing these research papers validate our approaches that we want to take. A bit about how this problem came into existance: this problem was originated very organically when I was teaching myself Quant in the last 6-7 months PLUS when we did an internal exercise of whether these AIs can handle the time-series data or not. And we found out that it can’t. It understands a bit of volatility but it just don’t understand the structured data in superb manner the way it does with the unstructured data. And when we went a layer deep then we found out that transformer architecture doesn’t have the concept of time in it. It has attention but with no time concept. Overall, The actual moat which essentially is going to catapult us in the league of those companies who are innovating in this space is our quality of thoughts & approaches which is helping us now test those thesis at superfast speed. Its super challenging & exciting. We are gunning with everything. And hopefully soon, you will see us producing benchmarks with variable infrastructure and with reproducible results. See you on the next summit!

10 years in growth taught me to trust the "how did you hear about us?" field. Then it started saying "ChatGPT." So @amitkumar0331 and I built @proofsourceHQ : see if AI recommends your brand, and fix it. Live on Product Hunt 🚀 producthunt.com/products/pro…

at pre-seed, a VC isn't evaluating your product. they're evaluating you. Raghav from @AntlerIndia told our founders exactly how, today at @residencyBLR VCs look in a founder for audacity, grit, agency, clarity and the unfair advantage they may have. then comes the market. and before any VC writes a cheque, they need to believe 3 things: > this will be a large outcome
> you're the best team to build it
> and, now is the right time he also talked about some practical stuff. > analysts skim 1,000 decks. so one slide headline should tell your whole story. > your first 2-3 slides carry the pitch. big market + right team, and you have the room. > write a "founder document" before you touch the deck. brain-dump everything you know about the problem, the market and your go-to-market. > and, the fastest way to a VC meeting is a referral from one of their portfolio founders. thank you Raghav for dropping by the house and sharing your insights :) p.s. want to build from the house? link to apply for our next cohort is in the comments.

Excited for the weekend!
Disney would've loved this in 1995. Today we're launching @mixie3D. (And yes, we made this entire film in it.) Making 3D has always meant one person doing a dozen jobs. Now a team of AI agents does them at once. Tell Mixar what you want. Agents model, texture and light the scene at the same time, and you can step in and change anything.

A tale of two chairs 🚤🪑🏨🪑 The first image was back in 2017, I was sitting at the front of a Fast Interceptor Craft, in-charge of 12 of them and 120 men who operated and maintained the crafts, tasked with patrolling the coast of a state in India. Was at the top of my game but health went south a few months later. Years of drinking and smoking early in life had resulted in a minor health problem and I had to forgo going to sea. The second image was in 2022, I was in Zo House Bengaluru, again at the top of my game, one of the few in India with a Bored Ape, and therefore given the privilege of my Bored Ape being displayed there (till I sold it in Dec 2023). That chair at the table was where so many people had taken pics, it was a much sought after chair during visits. I myself had my pic taken there when I visited. I had just retired from the Navy, was doing an Executive MBA from a premier Business School, had $50K liquidity in tokens and a bag of NFTs worth about $500K. I thought I would be one of those who never had to work another day in my life. But thanks to SBF and his FTX a few months later, and a quite a few wrong decisions from my side, by the time I finished my MBA, I had lost over 95% of my crypto net worth and had to get a job. These two chairs motivate me when I think of them. Life kicks us down, but then there were times I was at the top too. Everything is a learning experience, I am wiser and more experienced. I haven't given up, I am still building. If we ever meet IRL, I can share more experiences 🫡 This is my story @themutualfun 🪑
Let me tell you a story about a chair. 🪑 It was January 2024 and @rollinpinkpanda and I travelled to Costa Rica and stayed at a really cool boutique hotel that had eclectic pockets fascinating interior design and architecture. I found this area with a red neon call to action on the wall and was immediately drawn to the canvas. It was both a meme worthy risk as much it was a Instagram photo opportunity. I’ve always referenced this picture over the years for a few different reasons but now it means something entirely different. Today, the chair stands out as the statement piece more than the words on the wall. That’s what I want you to focus on. When was the last time you had fun with a photo, a thought or a place and you captured it and save it only to recycle it years later? When was the last time you repurposed something that just sat there in your camera roll waiting to be loved? When was the last time you realized that the most powerful statement piece in any room was the chair? Tell me a story @themutualfun

My salute to the Indian pilot Captain Smit Machchhar for his extraordinary bravery. Despite being stabbed and seriously injured, he fought back, resisted, opened the cockpit door, and enabled passengers and crew to overpower the attacker — preventing a catastrophic mid-air disaster. He saved the lives of 174 people, including Israeli citizens and other nationals. I wish Captain Machchhar a speedy and full recovery. He is a true hero.
