It was such an honor to present my work and represent @StanleyCLee and @fredhutch at #ASH24. My many thanks to the organizers for this opportunity!
Excellent presentation by Elizabeth Bonner @ebonner83 on understanding the biological consequences of CDK8 mis-splicing in SF3B1-mutant MDS. #ASH24

I totally forgot how absolutely awful it is to design primers that fall in intronic sequences

As a current trainee in Stan's Lab, I would like to whole heartedly endorse Stan as a boss and mentor. Our science is super cool too!
Interested in discovering new treatments for blood cancers? My lab at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is hiring a motivated scientist to contribute to our research program. Click here to apply. careers-fhcrc.icims.com/jobs… via @fredhutch

Just informed the undergraduate researcher in our lab that Blondie is not, in fact, metal. smh

Amen to this. I may have made more $ as a bartender than I do as a PhD student, but even with all the stress, I am so much happier and fulfilled doing science!
People in academia who’ve never had a job outside of this bubble, trust me, you have no idea what you’re talking about. The food industry/customer service field will bring you to your knees in a week. I’d do a PhD all over again rather than go back to work at the family business

So amazing!
Amazing octopus stretching its tentacles to form a huge balloon filmed by EVNautilus at a depth of around 1,600 meters (5,250 feet).

This is approximately 1,300 full modular R01 years. Or a 10% cut to approximately 13,000 grants for this year.
While I will support the bipartisan budget agreement, I’m deeply disappointed that it slashes @NIH funding by approx. $500M. It’s shameful that Rs would insist on cuts to med research as part of this deal. As a member of the Approps Committee, I'll work to reverse these cuts.

Tomorrow night I'm doing a thing. If any folks in Seattle care to swing through and hear some cool science... Best part, you dont have to be a scientist to learn what myself and others are doing!
