Yeah Arab culture is overly gracious, there's a vast ritualized etiquette. Not unique to Arabs either (tarof is similar I think). But Israelis literally pride themselves on their culture of "dugri" which is literally bluntess. Never made the connection but it's v Eastern European

It’s especially funny when people say Israeli brashness is “culturally Arab.” They’re pretty much the opposite in that regard! Levantine Arab culture is very indirect, polite, uptight, etc. Israel is “eastern” in a European way.

The problem w percentage based hit systems is not rlly the system itself but rather that nobody actually believes them. To compensate for this you have to build in extra systems to make it behave slightly more 'believable' so they accept it but that just reinforces the disbelief

There is Italy A and Italy B. Foreigners associate Italy with Italy A (15%). Art, classical beauty, refined cuisine, high fashion, opera, historic architecture, elegance, etc. But there is Italy B too (85%). Loud, chaotic, kitsch, vulgarly explicit, and also kind of of 3rd-world.
