On a June afternoon in 1966, Roy Orbison and Claudette were riding their motorcycles home through Gallatin, Tennessee. A pickup truck pulled into their path. Claudette swerved, was thrown, and died not long afterward. She was 24. Roy reached her first and stayed with her. They had built a family around a complicated, on-again-off-again marriage—three young sons, songs written for and about her, a shared love of motorcycles that began, in part, after Elvis introduced Roy to them. That afternoon ended more than the ride. Two years later, while Orbison was on tour in England, fire tore through the Hendersonville house on Old Hickory Lake. Roy DeWayne, ten, and Anthony, six, did not get out. Their youngest brother, Wesley, survived because grandparents pulled him clear. The house was gone; only the chimney stood. In less than three years Orbison had lost his wife and two of his children. He withdrew. For a stretch he found little to write or record. The dark glasses he had worn for years for practical and stylistic reasons now also kept the world at a distance from eyes that carried more than stage persona. He did not stay silent forever. The voice that had already made “Only the Lonely,” “Crying,” and “Oh, Pretty Woman” into permanent fixtures returned to the stage and the studio carrying a different weight. Listeners who had once heard theatrical heartbreak now heard a man who had lived the sharper edges of it. He kept working, remarried, raised more children, and eventually saw a late-career revival that included the Traveling Wilburys and the album Mystery Girl. On December 6, 1988, at 52, he died of a heart attack while that revival was still gathering force. What remained was the music. The losses never vanished; they simply became part of the tone that still reaches people decades later. Some grief is not solved or left behind. It is carried, and sometimes, if the person is fortunate enough and stubborn enough, it is turned into something others can recognize as their own.

Przynosił kwiaty, opowiadał dowcipy i czytał jej ulubione książki. Paul dopiero budował pewność siebie i swoją pozycję w świecie aktorstwa.

St. John Henry Newman was born on February 21, 1801, in London. He studied at Oxford and later served as Vicar of St. Mary the Virgin for many years. A gifted theologian, writer, and preacher, he became an influential member of the Oxford Movement, encouraging a deeper understanding of the Church and the writings of the early Church Fathers. Through years of prayer, study, and historical research, Newman was led to embrace the Catholic faith in 1845. He was ordained a Catholic priest in Rome and joined the Congregation of the Oratory, founded by St. Philip Neri. Returning to England, he established Oratories in Birmingham and London and later served as rector of the Catholic University of Ireland. Newman remained faithful to his search for truth and dedicated his life to the Church through preaching, writing, education, and pastoral ministry. He died peacefully at the Birmingham Oratory on August 11, 1890. His life continues to inspire those who seek truth with humility, courage, and perseverance. Prayer of St. John Henry Newman: “O my Lord Jesus, low as I am in Your all-holy sight, I am strong in You, strong through Your Immaculate Mother, through Your saints, and thus I can do much for the Church, for the world, for all I love.” Amen.

The Irish hare has been here longer than almost anything else that walks on the island, including us. It's a distinct subspecies found nowhere else on earth. A form of the mountain hare that survived in Ireland while its relatives elsewhere stayed in the Arctic 🐇 📸 Pete Reid

CYCLISTS & E-SCOOTER RIDERS — SLOW DOWN! Footpaths are for PEDESTRIANS. Vulnerable people shouldn't have to jump out of the way of bikes or e-scooters. Getting there a few seconds faster is never more important than someone's safety. @AccessKildare

The Kerry Bog Pony evolved in the wet, marshy boglands of County Kerry, small, sturdy, and sure footed 🐎 In 1994, an entire native Irish breed came down to one stallion and nineteen mares. Every single one of these ponies alive today descends from that small group 🐎💚
