LA could turn the city into a forest, drop temps, save water (which they desperately need) and become fire resistant by planting Coast Live Oaks, Manzanitas, native willows, Valley Oaks, Mandrones, Toyons, etc. Ditch the palms. The aesthetics of the 50's is killing the city.

Palm trees are a scam. They drink more water and provide less shade than other trees. They're also highly flammable and dangerous in high wind. Time for LA to replace Palm Trees with trees that provide actual shade and cool down our city.
