I wrote a book about Charlottesville, Jan 6, the alt right, an incel three-way, a death party, a mushroom trip, a book burning, a fascist's cell phone + what I witnessed reporting on extremism for a decade.
It's called Black Pill. Out 7/9, preorder here:

returning to Trump Town USA three years later. Sales are down. Even Trump merch customers have complaints:
"I'm not a supporter of the war in Iran, and just like later on, we found out information about the war in Iraq -- we found out that we shouldn't have been there either. ...
This thing that's going on in Gaza is horrible. I think it's more horrible than what's going on in Iran, personally."

New story:
In 2024, sitting inside the U.S. attorney's office in Honolulu, the former CEO of a defense contractor made a stunning confession to two FBI agents.
He alleged that was the ringleader of a massive pay-to-play operation, bribing senators with campaign contributions in exchange for government contracts.
He said his most important patron was Maine Senator Susan Collins.

Talking to the last person who asked Charlie Kirk a question about his year dealing with conspiracy theorists
🤖 Made with AI
I talked to Hunter Kozak, the last guy to ask Charlie Kirk a question, about what the last year's been like for him.
He doesn't want to be chased off the internet by the conspiracy theorists who falsely accuse him of murder. Sometimes he tries to reason with them. It rarely works out
@HunterEKozak
He literally called up some YouTubers and asked them what he'd have to do to prove his innocence.
Once he satisfied one guy that he was innocent, that guy didn't stop believing there was a conspiracy. Instead he asked for Kozak's help figuring out who the 'real' killer was

This just isn't true. The founder of Patriot Front is Thomas Rousseau. Many members' identities are public. So are their tactics and training locations, and even some internal group chats. Just google it people.

"I was watching the news last night down in New Orleans, where the border control was active, and some of the things I didn't-- I was not comfortable with at all. ... There was one particular girl who was born and raised here, and they chased her down the street into her house. That really upset me. I realize there needs to be limits, but there's citizens here that are being chased... I don't want anybody chasing me down the road."

"Especially all the stuff happening with the Epstein files...that's got me nervous as well."
Reporter: Do you want more of the Epstein files to come out?
"Absolutely...if he was there I feel like we deserve to know that, especially if he was in there. What Epstein did was horrible."

NEW: Jeffrey Epstein called her “my great defender.”
Emails and text messages show Goldman Sachs’ top attorney Kathy Ruemmler — previously Obama’s WH counsel — disparaged reporting on Epstein’s abuse as “rehashed crap,” in 2018 and helped craft a 2019 publication relations comment denying he got a sweetheart deal and arguing he was pursued usually aggressively in 2008.
He told an associate he could rely on Ruemmler as a character witness, describing her as an “arch feminist,” who was his “great defender,” and could show “the other side of Jeffrey.”
His calendars show more than 50 planned meetings with Ruemmler — lunches, dinners, apartment hunting— plus personal entries like facials and a “Glam Squad” appointment for her, presenting a relationship far more intertwined than previously known.
The Epstein estate is also fighting to keep hundreds of additional emails with Ruemmler private, arguing they’re protected by attorney–client privilege — suggesting even deeper involvement than what’s already public about her involvement in his legal affairs.

I know I'm supposed to be cynical and jaded at this point but it's still so weird to see the content of 10yo 4chan posts become official US policy
as one former member of that world asked me, "how does it feel to know that we won?"
nice note on my book Black Pill in this essay on the political consequences of cultural stagnation and @wdavidmarx's new book Blank Space
