As a bun mom and animal lover, I support the gradual move away from using lab animals for research. I also support it, though, because it's just good science - we all should. @sciam @JohnsHopkinsSPH

Dr @lorna_ewart @emulateinc was highly commended for a paper demonstrating that “Liver-Chips”, organ-on-a-chip devices, were able to determine liver toxicity with a high degree of sensitivity, minimising the need to use animal models.

ALT I am especially grateful for this recognition of our breakthrough study which demonstrated the superiority of the Emulate Liver-Chip over traditional animal models in predicting drug-induced liver injury. This award fuels our commitment to advancing humane and innovative research methods that will ultimately transform drug discovery and development. Dr Lorna Ewart, Emulate Inc

Thank you @Emulate for the opportunity to give an overview of our work with #OrganChips for TB @uniklinik_hd . TB is a complex, chronic disease and organ-chips can enable new insights via measurements not possible in animals or humans.
