very excited to see this out of A\ this is our thesis at @erscio ! But we are building a git compatibility layer: ersc.io/blog/what-comes-afte… enterprise adoption of new source control is a big ask, so making a smooth bridge from the past to the future is a big part of our offer

New on our Engineering blog: Creating in-house source control. In May, we merged around 2,500 code changes per day. In September, we merged more than 30,000 per day. As a result, we became bottlenecked by developer infrastructure built for human (rather than agent) scale. Here, we share how we built a new version control system—and fully migrated our monorepo from git—in five months: anthropic.com/engineering/re…

let’s all be honest—working during COVID sucked. a lot. get your ass back in an office and rediscover what it feels like to love your work, and work with a team you love not too many other life hacks out there that are this easy

It’s wild how Democrats just casually put up Assad margins in every single major U.S. city and yet you NEVER see pundits or the media asking why Republicans are so out-of-touch with urban voters

if there's one thing I would like people to internalize and move on from it's that hypocrisy is not only a fairly useless analytic but that many contradictions aren't contradictions but rather statements of value and that we've taught ourselves it's impolite to see or name them

the long-term goal is for version 0.2 of `tracing` to replace the existing `tracing::Value` trait with `valuable` entirely, so we'd love your help getting any issues with the current API figured out before then. you can get involved here: github.com/tokio-rs/tracing/…

`valuable` support in `tracing` should unlock a lot of things we've wanted to be able to do for a while, like recording user-defined structs as structured JSON, or pulling out specific fields by name to increment counters. see tokio.rs/blog/2021-05-valuab… for details on `valuable`.

I wanted to see tracing.rs span timelines at a glance. Although 9/10 times in Rust it already exists, I couldn't find it! So I made it: crates.io/crates/tracing-tex…, and immediately found a bug where we were executing tasks in series. Hope it helps you too!

i am really excited (and more than a little bit relieved) to announce that i just published v0.2.21 of the `tracing-subscriber` #rustlang crate: github.com/tokio-rs/tracing/… this release adds a new API for per-layer filtering, one of the `tracing` ecosystem's most wanted features!
