This new CFN feature sounds incredible! Hopefully, it can now compete with Terraform. aws.amazon.com/about-aws/wha… I suspect this is the feature that caused this bug. 🐜
It's wild that there has been an S3 / CFN bug causing stack creation failures around 5% of the time for > 60 days. It blows my mind how this was not picked up during some kind of internal testing. ESPECIALLY given how big both of these services are. github.com/aws/aws-cdk/issue…

Ever wondered how isolation levels work? How transactions are implemented? I’ve spent the last few months going deep and @andy_pavlo’s CMU course is very approachable and is the best of the best. Also what’s even better is it’s free. youtu.be/ht8Tx6DWn_E?si=5yH6…

I was thinking that if you submit an entire transaction in 'one go' it would be treated as a statement. Though as far as pg/pgbouncer is concerned it doesn't matter if it's in 'one go', if it's go a BEGIN; pgboncer will drop the whole connection.

The current technologies I enjoy working with are Serverless, TypeScript CDK, and @honeycombio. Observability becomes a whole lot easier with distributed tracing. The issue is, getting them all working together is hard. So I did a thing. dalejsalter.com/post/8afd46a…
It's incredible how quick/easy it is to track down integration test failures with @CoreHoneycomb (hard mode is when you depend on an async component completing). One graph to show test runs and another showing exceptions triggered from the backend system.

and for bonus points, a link to the dashboard after the test run, scoped to the start / end times of the test
People should not rely on organised documentation to find what they need, they should have a link to the document when they need it. E.g run-book in the alarm, link to a page to help debug tests when they fail, etc
🎄 'Tis the season. When developers create, build, and code to bring us together over the holidays. On the first day of #devEmber Nick Triantafillou (@xelfer) turns on his 2022 Christmas light show.

Serverless Aurora now has instance scaling support in Cloudformation. 🎉. Not fully supported in CDK yet, but there is a decent escape hatch. If you are interested in playing around with it I created a sample project github.com/Compulsed/serverl…
How are people using AWS Config look at rule compliance across multiple AWS accounts? Surely there is something out of the box to do this...

What do people use for cataloging and managing all of their micro-services? There must be something better than a spreadsheet🤔

This answered all of my questions and then some, thanks!
Now that Lambda Provisioned Concurrency is live, I can finally share my post on it - why it's important, what is it and how does it really work, and some rough edges to look out for for now (expect them to be fixed soon!) lumigo.io/blog/the-end-of-th… #serverless #aws #awslambda
Does anyone know with provisioned concurrency what exactly is initialised? Is it firecracker + Everything outside of your handler?

"When Lambda allocates an instance of your function, the runtime loads your function's code and runs initialization code that you define outside of the handler". Perfect. docs.aws.amazon.com/lambda/l…
