Who Votes on $2 Billion? 🧵 Washington's Legislature just voted on a $157 billion budget. But roughly $2 billion in compensation costs were already locked in before any vote happened. Here's how that works, and why it matters.

What the Actual??? WA STATE CORRUPTION WARNING TLDR Who do you think seems more corrupt? 1) The public unions trying to buy Washington's Supreme Court races? Or 2) The PDC, which suddenly changed the rules 12 days before the election so those unions can spend even more? What happened: Oct 13: the 21-day late-money cap kicked in. Max $7,500 per donor to PACs. Oct 22: the PDC suspended it. By "interpretive statement." No lawsuit. No ruling. What it means: In this final stretch, when voters are filling out ballots, the PDC changed the donation rules so there's no limit on what one donor can give a PAC. Checks of any size, right up to Election Day. Who benefits: The unions. SEIU, WEA and WFSE have already given $450K directly to the "Beware the Attack on Our Courts" PAC. In addition SEIU, WEA and WFSE are also the largest donors to New Direction PAC, which has donated an additional $298K to the supreme court judicial “Beware” PAC Until Oct 22, each of them could only give the court PAC up to $7,500 more before the election. Now they can give $500K. Or $5M. No Limits Where does their money come from? $165M+ a year flowing into SEIU, WEA and WFSE. Tax-exempt- taken from their members—each year. 5 Supreme Court seats on the ballot. A majority of the court. How much of the Supreme Court does $165M buy? The PDC just gave the public unions the green light to find out. Want judges not bankrolled by the public unions? Vote. Pos 1: Scott Edwards Pos 3: David Stevens Pos 4: Sean O'Donnell Pos 5: Dave Larson Pos 7: Todd Bloom

KGW News Interviewed me about the Income Tax. Gov Ferguson keeps talking about small business tax breaks, which are great, but $300k are really small businesses. The business employing 9 of 10 workers get hit with the tax. Sorry Bob, size matters... kgw.com/article/news/politic…

Don’t believe the lies. Olympia has a spending addiction and their new income tax is coming for every Washingtonian. Vote Yes on I-645.

That’s going to go over swell… Starlink is going to be a domestic-only service, or at least consumer only service in record time.
NEW: That Starshield that the Musk and the Trump administration throttled for Ukraine? It was paid for by the German government, with some help from other European countries—not the U.S. My latest. puck.news/who-really-pays-fo…

I’m grateful she is not causing harm to WA at least. So there is an upside to all of this.
NEW: The ACLU of Indiana is in turmoil after several of its most influential civil rights attorneys submitted their resignations in protest of the organization's direction under its board and incoming leader, multiple sources told @indystar . indystar.com/story/news/poli…

Feels like this one is very likely to be exploited. Not sure what’s ahead.
I think we've discovered another critical vulnerability: CVE-2026-BURNOUT: AppSec Professional Exhaustion Severity: Critical (CVSS 10.0) Description: A vulnerability affecting security professionals exposed to a continuous stream of critical RCEs, zero-days, emergency patches, and Friday afternoon disclosures. Impact: Sleep deprivation, excessive caffeine consumption, and an inability to enjoy weekends. Attack vector: Reading security advisories. Affected versions: All AppSec professionals, regardless of experience. Mitigation: No known patch. Air-gapping may delay the inevitable. Total system collapse remains a possibility. 🔥

I’d buy this, but ACLU has not actually need nonpartisan or routinely defensive of civil liberties in a long time. These days they are just a grab bag of progressive excess.
Hmmm, could it possibly be that Seattle's version of woke progressivism is incompatible with the non-partisan defense of American civil liberties?

WTF, $3000 Samsung TV has an always-on mic, automatic content recognition, geo tracking, network mapping, and ships your data to Samsung + 400 partners. Bro Rooted a brand-new 2025 Samsung TV after noticing absurdly targeted ads. Firmware was locked down, so zero-days it was. Got a root shell. then found: always-on voice service, ACR, geo, full telemetry pipeline, and four separate DRM systems. This isn’t a bug, It’s the product bro.

NEW!! GOP Sen. Kevin Cramer says he received a briefing today from Air Force Sec. Troy Meink on Starshield, raising concerns over U.S. reliance on SpaceX. “Fighting wars” can’t be so dependent on private companies, he says.

What an incredible bend of language. I look forward to seeing how the Court reacts to this one.

Cyber equivalent of the President’s Daily Brief saying danger to the homeland is imminent. We need radical hardening of all mainline cyber infrastructure and we need it asap. This frankly needs to be dealt with in NDAA for federal govt because we can’t wait until next spring.
as bad as things have gotten in the past 4 days, they are going to get a lot worse before they get better. security leaders, never let a crisis go to waste: please go to your boards and ask for help right now. not for ai, for the basics. (we need to hold on for ~18 months.)

There is nothing to worry about. Nothing important is run on PHP or old software—except the water & electrical grid, a few government services like our missile defense systems and a handful of electrified fences at the zoo (for the lions, tigers and cobras).

Trump’s oil deal with Venezuela was negotiated in secret. Now we know why. The contract just leaked, and it doesn’t say what Trump says it says.  What it does say is that we bought 35 percent of a company for a penny a share. The company is run by Alejandro Betancourt, a Venezuelan businessman who’s been investigated for money laundering in Switzerland, Spain, and the United States. DOJ officials reportedly asked foreign governments to close those investigations and let him travel. The parent company is registered through a Barbados shell, so nobody can see who the other owners are. Any dispute goes to a court in Texas. One person involved said it was built to insulate the deal from future administrations. The company pumps about 200,000 barrels a day. America burns through that in 15 minutes. If this were a good deal, they wouldn’t have had to hide it. I break it all down in today’s show (link in reply).

"Later that year, the Russian operative gave the Dutch spies access to one of the GRU’s most sensitive assets. Located in Rostov, Russia, the GRU’s hacking and cyber team operated a remote server on which they stored some of their bounty. During their search through these secret files, the Dutch found something astonishing: screenshots of Jared Kushner’s iPhone." vanityfair.com/story/jared-k…
