Saw a handful of plays last night, written by American teens, about gun violence.
These same plays were performed in 31 states on the same day. @enoughplays
Major themes: they feel targeted, despairing, and unheard by law enforcement and politicians.

Marcus Spears, with some very pointed remarks about the shooting during the Kanas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade:
"When I first heard it, you know what I thought, unfortunately, is this is who we are. This is who we are. So, now the ever-revolving cycle is going to start. The news outlets will talk about gun control. They'll have politicians from either side to talk about what needs to be done....And then we'll have a 'prayer's up,' I'm sure that's what's happening right now..."

It's a sad day today because 6 years ago on this day, 15 year old Ethan Song was killed at a friend's house by an unsecured gun.
Congress should pass Ethan's Law, which requires the safe storage of weapons in homes with children. It's common sense.

We held our Annual Meeting at the @MGMNatlHarbor presented by @KPMidAtlantic. While we took care of business, there was a recurring message from many in the business community that there needs to be a new approach in addressing public safety and we took that to heart.

Kudos to the @GWBoardofTrade for using your Annual Meeting to host a powerful dialogue on the intersection of arts & public safety.
Honored to accept another term on the GWBOT Board of Directors, in no small part because of their willingness to tackle tough issues with nuance.
