And what a workshop is was, with brilliant colleagues and lots of parchment!
I honestly think this summit started something that will change our perceptions of the Nordic Middle Ages in the coming years.
Thank you for hosting us, @ercb2c & @DetKglBibliotek!

It is just extraordinary- from the very start of this clip - that every element of solemnity around him - the dark clothes, the medals and the rest - will require him to take the limelight and stage a scene from Mr.Bean.

We are appalled and saddened by the news that the #Archaeology Departments at Sheffield and Chester are under threat of closure. We are working closely with archaeology's national representative bodies to defend and promote these departments and have written letters in support.

I thoroughly recommend reading the new paper on birthing girdles by @DrSFiddyment & colleagues. It addresses my musings, has all kinds of really fascinating historical detail, fancy ancient proteomics, and is beautifully written and accessible: royalsocietypublishing.org/d…

Until recent times, childbirth was the most dangerous moment in a woman's life. In the Middle Ages, monks even made talismans to shield women from danger. @DrSFiddyment recently showed one was used during delivery. I wrote about her find @NewsfromScience: sciencemag.org/news/2021/03/…
