Food distribution will be needed no matter how far AI advances. But the industry runs on a 2.9% profit margin, and I see that as a problem.
The solution is efficiency. Apps and software have been tried before, but they never took hold in an industry where paper and texts are the norm and technology is not a strength.
Asakana (YC F26) automates sales and the entire back office without changing how anyone works. Keep using email, text and handwritten paper. No ERP change needed. With minimal change in behavior, we make food distributors more efficient and more profitable.

AI models can be as convincing as a lawyer, but can they complete the complex multi-step reasoning a real legal matter requires?
Today we're excited to introduce LegalReasonBench, a new benchmark to explore this question and test models on realistic, long-horizon legal matters authored by practicing attorneys.

Very excited to launch this! Conversation dynamics are incredibly important and we've spent a lot of time working to improve them.
Voice AI's biggest challenge is timing. Today we’re excited to introduce Tango, Simple's conversational awareness model.
Tango is industry-leading on LiveKit's public end-of-turn benchmark, catching 96% of turn endings, responding in ~800ms, and barging in 5% of the time.

“@Waymo has been very open and enthusiastic with the bicycling community about how their vehicles might be able to improve roadway safety,” Ramsey said. “And we’ve been impressed with how Waymo engineers have been thoughtful about how to better incorporate bicyclists’ behavior.”

It's been a year since I switched from being an org leader to an IC.
The first few months were really tough. When you are a perfectionist, it's hard to go from being really competent to making simple mistakes. Lots of "unknown unknowns" I had to figure out. I see why a lot of people I know bounce back to management within the 3-6mo range.
I did make it through the transition though, and I'm very happy I did. I find my new job extremely fun and invigorating. I'm so excited about what I do again. The work I get to do as an IC engineer is what I dreamed of doing when I was in school.
I'm also really grateful that I made this transition in the era of llms. It's so much easier to be able to ask Gemini my stupid questions first before reaching out to ask a human. Of course, it's also been important to avoid an over-reliance on llms... If you want to be an expert, you have to learn how to do the task yourself, not just delegate it to an agent. But overall I think this would have been way harder transition 5 years ago.
