This morning I woke up discouraged with what is going on in our country. But one of my bible study brothers encouraged me with this scripture. “So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.” Gal 6:9
If attitudes toward female subjugation are systemic, and I believe that they are, it stands to reason that the art we consume and sanction plays some part in reinforcing those same attitudes. -Molly Ringwald

“Put no trust in extortion; set no vain hopes on robbery; if riches increase, set not your heart on them.” Psalm 62:10
And he said to them, "Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions."
Luke 12:15 ESV

For me, the post-Weinstein moment—and its now-growing backlash—coincided with reporting a story that required countless interviews with alleged victims and bystanders close to them. I've been thinking a lot about whisper networks. This is what I learned. theverge.com/2018/2/21/17035…

Culture tells us to look into our hearts for inspiration.
Scripture tells us to look into our hearts for examination.
When guided by God, this brings about in our hearts a transformation.
Psalm 26:2 "Examine me, O LORD, and try me; Test my mind and my heart."
Formula 1 made a good decision. Women are not objects. They're people. Parading women around as eye candy is not valuing them. It's reducing them to decor and sending the message that their value is their sex-appeal.
I'm 34 and I think I'm just now realizing how tough most women have it in our society. The harassment, abuse, and general devaluing of women is wrong. It's NOT OK. It's a sin. </rant>

Practice presence. Though it would be easy to escape into our phones or busy ourselves with future work, remember that we will not get this time back, it will help us be attentive in the moment. Whether you are with family or away, be present in the company you keep.
That said, Merry Christmas! For my ranting, here's a super cute picture of my daughter making (eating) a sugar cookie 😂
For the record, all tech companies use planned obsolescence. Apple, Microsoft, Google, Samsung. It's taught in Business 101. To think that any company is acting in your best interest is naive. They just want your money.
Planned obsolescence is not conspiracy theory. It's how you get to be as rich as Apple... @tomwarren
