It’s now routine that I enroll in data monitoring because a college I applied to ~20y ago, but never attended, has had a data breach. This time @Columbia. Why are these places retaining applicant personal data after decades?!? Just delete it!
No school should pretend they are capable of keeping these data secure and there’s no appropriate reason to retain the data so long. @Columbia can you explain why you still keep applicant personal data long after the period of application?
Takeaway #5: Don’t accept the status quo
The science of medical imaging and skyrocketing utilization left the legacy PACS industry in the dust more than a decade ago. Don’t let your admin tie you to a dinosaur that prevents you from doing your job well and efficiently.
Legacy imaging IT solutions like PACS aren't making things easier for #radiologists. In this edition of The Imaging Wire show, we talked to leading #radiology key opinion leaders on how new software tools can help by boosting the interpretation efficiency of radiologists. Takeaway #4: Cloud acceleration is real
The cloud can:
☁️ Eliminate hot/cold storage to make priors always immediately available
☁️ Eliminate access bottlenecks during high use periods
☁️ Eliminate intake queues and make current exams available faster

Takeaway #2: Haning Protocols are (still) super important!
This is my jam and I cringe at all the “new” things I see from vendors that don’t meet the needs of radiologists. An optimized HP can eliminate all the “using the computer” tasks so rads can just do radiology.

An optimized hanging protocol can offer more efficiency benefits than all other currently available efficiency tools combined. Why do I think so? I’ve experienced it. When offered the chance to trial my optimized HPs against the regular system, I completed a days work by 10:30am.
Takeaway #3: AI is here to stay
But single task AI tools won’t fix a broken system or inefficient workflow. Roller skates don’t make you faster in mud. Fix the base system and then skates will make you really fast.

Hanging protocols should:
-Integrate AI output
-Accommodate user presences without separate maintenance
-Flex with workstation configuration
-Obliterate mouse miles/clicks
-NOT REQUIRE UNIFORM SERIES NAMING
And more:
I'm doing the @SIIM_Tweets IIP Bootcamp this term and this past week one of my favorite topics in radiology was discussed: Hanging Protocols. Surveys have shown only 1/3 of radiologists use HPs and of those, 3/4 don't think they work well.
Takeaway #1: interoperability reigns supreme!
If your workflow/efficiency “solution” does not integrate seamlessly, it risks creating more work, detours, and clicks for radiologists. This is the road to burnout and doesn’t build a culture of efficiency.

Really enjoyed this conversation with Drs. Davis, Said, & Tu about the efficiency and workflow challenges facing #radiologists everywhere. Thank you @briancasey3 for hosting, Amy Thompson w/ @SignifyResearch for putting our thoughts to print, and @Visage_Imaging for facilitating!

Wonder if you have to pay recruiters extra not to address their pitch emails to “Dr. Example Last Name”
@practiceseeker @SRChildren_
“We will call them Abdominal Radiologists”
“They will image only the abdomen?”
“No, also the pelvis and sometimes the thyroid”
“Sometimes, sir?”
“Only ultrasound. CTs go to Neuro”
“Because the thyroid has nerves?”
“It does not”
“I don’t understand, sir”
“Nobody does”
