join the graphic design gestapo now :-D
We’re hiring at the National Design Studio of America, looking for the most talented designers across the nation.
Government websites should feel premium: fast, clear, and easy to use. Right now, too many essential services are stuck on outdated tech and tangled processes, so people hit dead ends, bounce between forms, wait on hold, and give up, especially seniors and anyone without time to spare. We’re raising the standard and rebuilding the experience from the top down with a small, high-bar team.
If you’re ready to come to DC to cut through the red tape, move fast, and ship improvements at national scale, or know someone who would, reach out to me!

The fact that Instant Pot is already being framed as a corporate cautionary tale—the company that went bankrupt bc they made a product so durable & versatile that its customers had little need to buy another one—instead of as a critique of capitalism is deeply, deeply depressing.

Also semi-regular shout-out to the even bigger compilation of all this - a google doc I've been compiling for about a year now that includes links to dozens of flickr archives of scanned ephemera and vintage design items 💥📖

Some of my students were struggling to find internships, so I made this master list of studios for them to reach out to and figured I'd share it here too! It skews more towards the US + branding (my own bias) but I welcome any additions / nominations 💙 bit.ly/designstudiolist

I wrote an essay called "Grid World" for the latest issue of The HTML Review (thehtml.review). Read it here: alex.miller.garden/grid-worl…
I had a really fun time creating the graphics that accompany the essay!
