At least there's this: Suffering born well is an occasion for great merit.

I think it's very silly that Mormons say that the Church fell into apostasy for 1800+ years and that all our creeds are abominations, but then get butt hurt if they're told they're not part of the club.

Their glory days are far far behind them, but I'm still sad to hear about Bioware.

The idea might come from a heretic, but I'm fond of the idea that Apollos wrote Hebrews just because I like the idea of having something of that famously eloquent evangelist.

Matthias Scheeben, where have you been my whole life?

I think it's very unfortunate that those concerned with the recent Popes' teachings on the death penalty are treated as automatically bloodthirsty ghouls. Some are, but others simply care about the integrity of the faith.

People aren't bad for being concerned about this and I wish our teachers would take greater care to demonstrate continuity while pursuing the same end.

Anyway I think this is the best synthesis of the issue with continuity that I have seen, even though I don't fully agree with all parts of their larger framework youtube.com/live/eDpIqVVC1Gw…

Hasan and @WalmartThomist’s explanation of the Church’s teaching on the death penalty is the best treatment of this issue. They point to the need to distinguish between the Natural Law and the New Law, something almost no one does in these discussions. youtube.com/live/eDpIqVVC1Gw…

I'd like this, but I'm disappointed it doesn't have an adventure pack like the original Keeper Screen pack did. Blackwater Creek is a perfect Call of Cthulhu introduction, and something like that for Gaslight would be excellent.
All the important and useful rules and charts—at a glance! The Cthulhu by Gaslight: Keeper Screen is an essential play aid for those running games set in the foggy streets and alleys of Victorian Britain. Get yours: buff.ly/3CWoMiy

How did I not realize until today that St. Therese of Lisieux makes cameos in both SPIDER-MAN (2002) and SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME (2019)?

I'm looking for a good treatment of merit (especially congruous/supernatural merit). Any recommendations? @JimmyAkin3000 @WalmartThomist @sincead33

you dig into the situation with usos y costumbres there's been situations of communities ejecting diocesan clergy and bringing in outside priests for decades. The local community leaders, not the Church, control things.
Catholics: “Kneel and pray before our statues.” Protestants: “No”. Catholics: “take him to Jail” Respect to this man for refusing to bow.

Ryan is either ignorant or lying. Ethan clearly says throughout the debate that it is the charity of Christ in him by grace that fulfills the law of love, not himself.
I couldn't believe this Catholic apologist actually made this claim. Hello rich young ruler.

I wonder why so few Catholics talk about the unmerited grace of final perseverance in debates with Protestants
