Remember the "You don't need WordPress anymore, AI can create HTML sites" crowd?
Months ago I argued the opposite: AI's real win is controlling WordPress, not replacing it with static sites.
Now WPVibe is proving exactly that.
xitter.cf/johnturner/status/2105…
WPVibe just passed 50,000 installs on WordPress, a little over five months after launch.
The number isn't the surprise. Who showed up is.
I expected mostly developers. The reviews sound like this instead:
"I'm not a technical guy. I have no idea how this plugin does what it does. I just know it works."
"...while still allowing me to stay in control of what is being changed."
Site owners already pay for an AI. They want it to work on the site they have, and they want to approve what changes. That's the whole product.

When Students cheat on Exams — using AI or by any other means — they do so because School Systems value Grades more than Students value Learning.
I told you years ago that @Revolut is brainless and now they handed all your passports and transaction history to someone just because they pretended to be "government". I don't understand how you can trust this company with one cent.
xitter.cf/euthelup/status/186243…
Is hard to find something dumber then @RevolutApp . How on earth you close an account used for splitting restaurant bills with friends for being used in a “way that wasn't compatible with our platform.”. And what’s so “impossible” to share the reason?
‼️ BREAKING: Revolut handed over customers’ passport copies, verification selfies and full transaction histories to a malicious actor.
The actor sent lawful government information-demand emails using a genuine government domain that passed domain authentication.
Revolut later concluded they were not authentic.
Affected customers were notified on Friday. What may have been disclosed ranges from name, date of birth and home address to account statements, withdrawal records and complete Bitcoin transaction history.
The company says it has alerted the agency to the unauthorised mailbox on its domain, blocked the address and begun notifying regulators.
It has not named the agency, explained how someone obtained a mailbox there, or given a number of affected customers.
ZachXBT, who circulated the notices, believes the incident was limited in size and aimed at high-net-worth users.
I guess I'm an @OmarchyLinux plugin builder now.
Every wp-env site on your machine, in one panel: start, stop, create, open — no terminal.
Bonus? Real local domains like my-project.site with trusted HTTPS.
Building #WordPress is still fun, no matter the OS.
I tried @OmarchyLinux , love it. But god damn it we can’t have anything nice and opens-source without some useless drama? In any domain?
OFC I fell down a rabbit hole. I installed #Omarchy on an old MacBook and started installing a bunch of apps: Ollama, WPStudio CLI, Antigravity. Played with Qwen 3.8 on it, set up a #WordPress dev site, and now it's 5 AM. Great! 🦉
One of the greatest sources of #WordPress news!

Did you know that WordPress' cron, WP-Cron, is not real cron?
It is WordPress simulating scheduled tasks through page requests.
That means background work can be triggered while users are loading pages. On small sites, that may be fine. On larger sites, it blends user-facing work with background work.
That creates unpredictability. Real server cron separates the workload.

I'm donating my WordCamp Europe ticket. Unfortunately, something unexpected happened, and I will sadly miss #WCEU. If someone's around Krakow and wants to see some cool WordPress-related talks, let me know. #WordPress #WCEU2026

You might believe you should spend less time thinking about code because of AI.
I strongly disagree! We’re watching this play out live where tons of AI generated code becomes a liability.
At the end of the day, an engineer needs to be responsible / on call for code that gets shipped to production. If you don’t understand the system you’re trying to debug, you’re probably going to have a bad time.
Yes, AI can help with all of this, if you set up the proper systems. You can have agents triage prod logs, look at errors, etc. You can speed up parts of the investigation, but an engineer needs to make the call. There might be serious customer or financial implications from that change.
I expect the trend continue for trimming dependencies, vendoring code so you can modify it directly, preferring simpler systems with fewer abstractions, and spending waaaay more time thinking about system design and code maintenance.
I’ve said this before, but it’s a great time to get familiar with CS fundamentals and some of the history behind what great software looks like. Many parts will be different in the coming years as AI progresses, but also a lot more than people realize will stay the same.
Agile Manifesto in the world of AI hits differently: Working software is the primary measure of progress. a.lup.dev/ai/what-are-we-est… ?
A decent model with a great harness consistently beats a great model with a bad harness.

When you want to be the spiritual successor of #WordPress, but you act like the spiritual successor of Amazon by firing people, not because you have a financial problem, but because you simply don't make enough profit to buy the same yacht as Bezos

An update regarding the future at @Cloudflare. I’ve shared my full message to the team and details on the support we're providing those departing here: blog.cloudflare.com/building…
#WordPress has a lot to suffer for allowing this kind of misinformation to spread like it's nothing, and for thinking the trend will pass. But in time, the repeated lies will be engraved in stone as true when they are not properly countered.

Your WordPress site costs you thousands a year and you don't even realize it
Premium hosting. Paid plugins. That freelancer who takes 3 weeks to change a button color.
Meanwhile I just built a full business website by talking to Claude Code.
Hosting? $0/month on Cloudflare.
Handles 70K-100K visits before you pay a cent.
Free CDN. Free HTTPS. Free image optimization. The works.
And then it gets wild...
I gave it 2 prompts and now it remembers my entire design system. Colors, fonts, spacing, components.
Every new page takes MINUTES because Claude already knows the rules.
About page? One prompt. Blog? One prompt. Contact form? One prompt.
The old way was $5K, 6 weeks, and a bunch of emails to a designer who ghosted you.
This was a conversation and a git push.
We built a whole course teaching non-technical people how to do this in our AI Accelerator.
Honestly, I don't know what the argument for paying $5K is anymore.
My blog's hosting costs $4 on @Hetzner_Online, 0 paid plugins, and in the last 6 years, I did one redesign last week. Nowadays, I can control everything with Claude Desktop, so basically, none of that is true. Not for blogging, not for eCommerce stores, not even for complex sites
