The greatest rivalry that Liquid ever had in esports was the one in StarCraft 2 between us and Evil Geniuses. In the early days before the scene really developed, the sentiment was that TL was the community darling building talent from the ground up and EG was the evil empire buying players left and right to buy themselves trophies. In those early days, I did not know the people behind the organization.
We competed in all the big tournaments against each other, and when HuK was at his peak, one of the most difficult moments in our organization's history happened when he made the switch to EG. Yet despite the rough start to our relationship, throughout the variety of events that we both attended, Alex Garfield and I ended up spending more and more time together. While we always remained fierce competitors and enemies on the battlefield, I had started to see him as a friend and incredibly skilled rival, peer, colleague, and eventually, ally.
In order to make it in this space, organizations such as Liquid and EG need to work together, and in those years it felt like we were having a positive impact and building a healthier ecosystem for all. Eventually we created the Holy Alliance: bitter rivals teaming up to take on the Korean professional teams on ProLeague was a reflection of the ambition of both of our organizations, as much as it was a statement on the development of our work together behind the scenes.
In my 25 years in esports I can say without a doubt that Alex was one of the most brilliant people I have worked with. Even with investment dollars coming in, new founders coming up and experienced CEOs entering from outside the industry, I will forever hold Alex’s strategy and understanding of the space in the highest regard.
It is sad to see that Evil Geniuses is finally closing its doors and I feel especially for all of its staff and players. However, not all is lost. I know this is a business, and ultimately it is up to those who now own the brand, but I would really like to urge the current owners of the brand to do all of esports a favor and allow for a transfer to Alex. Or in the words of HuK: “GG's, give the brand or sell it super cheap back to @alexgarfield please and thanks” 🙏

HOLY FUCK BUFFALO IS DOING DOCTRINE OF DISCOVERY BULLSHIT TO THE SENECA
Among the City of Buffalo's legal claims of support is a case that invokes a series of 15th-century edicts from the Vatican whereby Christian nations had a right of discovery and claims to land over Indigenous peoples.

Pikaboo is 100% right and the chuds/bots saying otherwise are stupid (as always).
We've had 20+ years of PvP. The best talent has been objectively discovered during that time.
No random tourist PvPer is going to beat the best/known players on an even playing field.
Pikaboo keeps it real when a viewer says non-streamers have no chance to win the $50,000 Duel Tournament
"If you were given all the handouts, you'd still lose...you should just try to play for fun."
"You can try to fight like Snutz in an even playing field..and you will never win, ever...you can run the same duel 100 times, you'll never win once."
The WoW: Forever discourse is fascinating. There are so many new and returning players that endemic community knowledge gets lost in the volume of posting.
Y’all know Ziqo has been on camera talent for Blizzard, including Blizzcon, for six years?
Explain to me like I'm five years old why this guy isn't permabanned from the beta and his account? Is this not the perfect opportunity to stick to your word about banning gold buying? Is this streamer privilege?
Is he not the perfect example of what happens when you put your hand on the stove? What are we even doing here, boys?
Keep your word.

My boy Ziqo is fine.
1) He has been as vetted as vetted can be by Blizzard. The arena community can be pretty toxic. I’m sure Blizzard went over him (and Ven, Supa, Eiya) with a fine tooth comb before letting them to be the faces of their brand.
2) Ziqo won’t risk 1) for 350g.
I doubt Blizzard directly drone struck the gold on his account. I wager (I’d wager 350g—send it to Ad Revenue on beta) they ban at the source of RMT and the gold associated with it is easily tracked through trades and just disappears wherever it lands downstream.

William left no mousepads unturned in his reporting.
Real esports ones know.
Thanks to @chrislhayes for having me on last night to talk about our investigation into Susan Collins and the falsehoods her campaign has offered in response to our reporting.
If the data is mineable it will be mined.
They had a big scoop and sat on it for a week. That a remarkably gracious editorial call, could have been to the detriment of their business, because they wanted to avoid spoilers that *some people care about.*
Goodest guys behavior.
I saw a post where someone said @wowhead should be ashamed for posting this. Dogs, you gotta chill.
C’mon @Wowhead is @wowhead, guys. You’re being weenies if you’re upset. Giving them ire for posting datamined information *that they’ve sat on for a week* is lame.
There has been no bigger free resource in the history of WoW than wowhead (maybe IcyVeins or the noble Thottbot).
I know there's about to be a whole lot of hate coming our way re: the datamining post that just went up, but I just want to be clear. We've known about most of this since day 1. We were not planning to post it, but we have been watching people getting closer and activity around it increasing rapidly. This was going to be posted very soon - there were both individuals and websites poking around it.
For those of you that enjoy it, well, enjoy it - it's very cool and there's still a massive amount we don't know. They've kept a lot of it locked down.
