You killed any hope and momentum I had for Halo with this game. It's advertising campaign insulted us, and the gameplay didn't represent an ounce of what we sought Halo out for during Bungie's days with it.
May Halo 5 be remembered with the same apathy that invented it.

After Call of Halo 4 and the abysmal launch of MCC, I genuinely didn't think Halo could get any worse. The this abomination released and turned out to be Titanfall/Destiny with by far the worst story told in the Halo universe at that time, beaten only by the god awful TV series

Five years for a campaign-only Halo CE and you’re still blaming Xbox when it inevitably failed. 343 getting gutted was the best 25th anniversary gift Halo could’ve gotten.
It’s sad that on the 25th anniversary of Xbox and Halo, Xbox has gutted HaloStudios, rushed Campaign Evolved out the door, and done more to advertise and celebrate MW4’s release than Halo. Really shows how MS/Xbox has fumbled the franchise. I’m hoping for a better future.

The Canceled Halo: First Strike Game Adaptation | Rebs Gaming
Halo Studios had decided to start adapting the Halo novels into games, beginning with Eric Nylund’s Halo: First Strike (the 2003 book that bridges Combat Evolved and Halo 2). The idea was to turn major novel-only stories into playable gaps between the bigger remakes.
“It would have fit perfectly since it could help bridge the gap between campaign evolved and the Halo 2 remake. The campaign would have consisted of at least five missions.”

Chief would rescue Linda from her cryopod and reunite with Johnson and the rest of the crew aboard Pilasky's Pelican. and it would conclude with Chief battling the Covetan in a space station called the Unyielding Hierofphant and returning to Earth right at the beginning of Halo 2's story.”
