(1/n) Day 5 (last day!) of @evolvingseas twitter takeover! Today we're doing some reflecting on the past month @UCSB & looking forward for many things to come! I definitely will miss it here, but I can't say I'll miss the gigantic hill I need to bike up on the way to campus 😅

(1/n) Day 4 @evolvingseas twitter takeover! Today we're shifting from chatting urban/ecotox to the modeling I've been working on here @UCSB. Before we dive in, please enjoy this beauuutiful picture I took on a walk on campus w/ @bpbleus this morning. Dang, I'll miss it here!

(1/n) Day 3 @evolvingseas twitter takeover! Today, we're talking shop about the dynamics of symbiosis. P.S. just finished up an awesome coffee chat about all things energy & coral with postdoc Ferdinand Pfab in the @mixotrophe lab...selfie (of course) attached!

Day 2 #twittertakeover! My senior year at @holycross, @RandiRotjan gave a guest lecture about #PIPACorals as well as #Astrangiathings. I was fascinated by this temperate coral I had never heard of that lives right off the coast of New England where I grew up--Astrangia poculata.

Thank you for the wonderful introduction @evolvingseas! A bit more about me: I went to @holy_cross undergrad and worked in the @McAlisterLab on larval phenotypic plasticity. I ventured to @BU_Biology for a masters in Spring of 2019, and transitioned to a PhD in Fall 2020

Had a great time this morning giving a guest lecture for @eembucsb’s Coral Reefs course. I introduced temperate corals and the modeling / empirical questions we are asking about #Astrangiathings symbiosis. Special thanks to the students for letting me take this selfie 😆

Day 3 of my @evolvingseas research exchange! Today I had the pleasure of crashing an @E5coral modeling meeting with researchers from @eembucsb & @shedd_aquarium. Incredible to see the work they are doing & workshop strategies to model the energetics of #coralbleaching.

Hey #TempGen2021Tweets! Planning to do enzymatic reduced representation using museum specimens? You might need up to 24% more historical DNA 🐟🧬to get sequence results comparable to contemporary samples. Follow this thread to find out more 1/7

#TempGen2021Tweets A key challenge in temporal genomics is that non-biological differences (e.g. sequencing platform, DNA degradation level) among groups of samples from different time points may generate batch effects that can confound biological patterns. (1/7)
