Excalidraw CLI released!
Log in to your Excalidraw+ account or use with local files.
You can easily render Excalidraw diagrams to give better output feedback to your agents.
Install today.
You can use `w` as a quick shortcut to wrap/unwrap things.
In some contexts it may not do the most useful thing so we will iterate based on feedback.
Having trouble selecting a shape that's beneath another?
You can now opt/alt + click to cycle through the shapes under the cursor.
Ok, auto-incrementing list items/counters is in!
We're a bit conservative for now so it applies for numbers up to 42, and single-item lists only. Letters up to h, then switching to roman numerals.
Newly, alt-drag duplicating a list item auto-selects its text so you can change it easily.
Improved text editing experience.
- When text tool active we highlight what you're about to edit or bind to.
- Creating unbound fixed-width text inside containers now works properly.
- The text caret stays visible as you type - we avoid UI by scrolling the canvas, and wrap text so it's not too long. You can always unwrap later if needed.
Improved our library a bit.
Hover to show item names.
Filtering gets you bigger previews and displays the item names right there.
You can now add transition animations to your Excalidraw+ slides!
And we have a whole new presentations editor. 🔥
What transitions beside sliding and fade-in would you wanna see?
In either input mode you can now pan canvas with right-click drag.
You can also zoom by holding mouse wheel and scrolling (takes a bit of practice). Useful in trackpad mode if your other hand is... busy.

I do so much work in Excalidraw it's not even funny.
Was on the free plan for years but finally decided to pay a whopping $7/mo for extras.
Biggest use it to rough out UI concepts that I am going to have AI implement.
Also great for mind mapping, brainstorming, just thinking in general. And open source. <3
(Not affiliated. Posting bc I genuinely use it and it's free.)
Should mouse wheel scroll or zoom? You can now change what it does by default.
Hidden under the cryptic input mode because of how it carries the behavior to trackpad's two-finger panning (which browsers interpret as a wheel event).
Trackpad = wheel scrolls
Mouse = wheel zooms
Want to create your own icons but can't draw? Ask @OpenAI Astra to draw them for you.
Yesterday I asked Codex to setup Excalidraw+ MCP for me. Then I watched it login to @excalidraw on my browser, enable personal API keys for my org and create a new API key through the dashboard.
Chills 🥶
The Excalidraw+ app, now localized.
Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano, 日本語, Português, and more.
Additional languages coming soon! ✌
We've improved Excalidraw+ PDF exports (and slide/server exporting in general).
Embedded SVGs remain vectors. Emojis and multiple fonts now work well. Speed and reliability improved.
Some things are left still, such as support for more languages.
