I'll be taking some time off from social media. I need a break to recharge and focus on other aspects of life, including Francine Witt's next mystery. Be seeing you! 👌

The parallels between #MoiraShearer and #VickyPage are discussed by @ShannonDav96 and @AshleyShaw_1 as they explore what it was like to be a woman in a prestigious ballet company in the 1940s. 🎯

We wanted to honour Dario Argento with 'profondo rosso' lighting for this #Suspiria inspired shot. Unfortunately, it didn't make the final cut, but it's available as a deleted scene with the #ÒrannahEala bonus features exclusively on Vimeo. 🎯

Juraj Herz's #Morgiana feels like a gothic fairy tale where the shadows have minds of their own. It's as if Edgar Allan Poe was invited to a tea party and brought his darkest imaginings along! 🇨🇿☯️

A Hitchcockian black and white thriller awaits you in the shape of The Universal Theory (2023). In UK cinemas from this Friday. Some quite amazing cinematography by Roland Stuprich as well.

If you're thinkng of a Christmas present for a movie fan, small reminder about my new book Dear Orson Welles and other essays. @irishpages
It's a bit wild, lush, playful, passionate.
Themes include:
LA/Hollywood, memory, childhood in film, Claire Denis, Welles, Iranian film...
As a ballet and theatre aficionado, Madeleine Childs really appreciates what we were striving for with our short film "Òran na h-Eala"! 🎯

Think about this from a professional point of view. A film executive or financier instantly dismisses a script because it's not part of his experience, even if he admits it's good. (I cite the film industry rather than book publishing because film is still so male-dominated).

I wrote a novel, and now all I want to do is write another novel and read lots of books for inspiration. But I need to snap out of it because I have a movie to make!!

Great that there's a Powell and Pressburger film season on BBC.
Heard from Thelma Schoonmaker that the doc I made about I Know Where I'm Going! will be shown too. Don't know when.
Made it decades ago, not my usual style, but if you love IKWIG you might like it.

To mark the Last Night of the Proms, but also Scooby Doo's 55th birthday, I play the Scooby Doo theme tune in the style of the Russian classics. And I'd have gotten away with it, too, if it weren't for you meddling kids... @bbcproms @BBCRadio3
