Folks in #makerspace or #woodworking with young people, how do you sort/store wood scraps? Because this is what we have after 12 weeks of summer camp, and...yikes.

doing everything we can to keep unhoused neighbors hydrated un this heatwave. We are short on cash, every dollar helps.

hey #ActuallyAutistic twitter, can we get this circulating? Evan is a solid dude who's had a string of bad luck and really needs a break. let's make it happen.
gofund.me/c2ffc9c2 Hey everyone, the person I've been staying with just found out they have covid on top of everything else. This means i have to quarantine and I'm being kicked out tomorrow. Any help for housing, or funds for a hotel?

there's "this meeting could have been an email" painful and then there's "the stuff covered in this meeting ALREADY WAS in an email that apparently they didn't trust us to read?!" painful

Tacking an "if you have the capacity" onto something we both know you're telling me I have to do regardless is bullshit and only serves to make YOU feel better. Stop it.

Just found a note in my Google Keep (that I do NOT remember) that says only "drill pressing through a pack of bologna," and I'm pretty sure I should get my #makerspace privileges revoked for that idea.

This whole month has been one continuous "if I had spent half as much time just doing the thing as freaking out about doing the thing, it would already be over." What helps you interrupt that?

Wikipedia's List of Fictional Robots and Androids includes all four teletubbies. Is that...true? (hi, I'm having a pretty weird day)

PRESS RELEASE Hello, I'm Reed. I'm publishing this press release today to tell you all about what I witnessed at the Near North encampment this morning and to amplify the voices of my neighbors, my friends, and my community in the face of violent displacement. 1/5

Second person also separated from her phone, and possibly the housing she was ready to move into and ABSOLUTELY all the suitcases she had packed to move in to the new house. She tearfully told police this. You can hear her in this video. teapawt.org/TCparkresponder/status…

I never write instructions for anyone older than ten. How do you say "fold the paper hamburger style" in Respectable Adult?
finally free of the worst roommate/landlord situation I've ever had. it of course ended with scrubbing for hours after a roommate lied about having cleaned the bathroom and the property manager still saying it was "terrible" and charging me for it, but it's over. good riddance.

"I want to make a button that makes a buzzer buzz." "Okay, but remember that you have a whole week, and that doesn't sound like it will take very long..." "No, no, I want to MAKE a button." #makerspace #makerEd #summerCamp

Replying to @Growingmpls
@Growingmpls I travel by bike. Today an employee in a CPED vehicle mistook my very clear right-turn signal for a friendly wave and waved back, then became visibly frustrated when I shook my head at their attempts to illegally yield right of way (I had a stop sign, they did not).

They should never have come to a stop at all. Why is someone who's completely and flagrantly ignorant of basic rules of the road allowed to drive a CPED vehicle?
2

@Growingmpls this wasn't a rhetorical question. I want to know why you let people who don't know jack about road safety use taxpayer-funded vehicles to endanger us all.

If you have bike lanes but refuse to enforce their correct use, you don't have bike lanes.

Yours truly very much did NOT get into MIT but the rest of this provokes a lot of tender nostalgia for me (and likely for anyone else whose early interest in HTML was hampered by dial-up internet). Pretty psyched to check out the author's collection of computer science zines.

For real, though, I am choked up at seeing someone who is really freaking good at computers while unapologetically and unironically embracing femininity and cuteness. Ope.

Love this! I actively encourage students working on science experiments and engineering challenges to check out other groups' work and they are always startled at first. It takes time to unlearn the "hey, no copying!" response, but it's so good.
Elementary Edu major and PLL member Emma Monson successfully defended her summa cum laude application this week! “STEAM helps you realize that you need to share- your words, your ideas and your work. It’s not stealing- it’s sharing, growing, and learning together.”
