Norway's controversial 2021–2024 reforms nearly doubled the tax on business wealth. Firms of affected owners did not invest less, and outmigration was limited to the very top, from @Mariusring nber.org/papers/w35854

Mattarella: La scuola deve includere, recuperare, ricostruire.

Cuadrado-Roura’s conclusions are a warning: renationalising Cohesion Policy and subordinating it to sectoral priorities risks weakening its territorial mission. academic.oup.com/joeg/articl… shows that, through spillovers, its benefits extend well beyond the regions receiving the funds
Europe’s #competitiveness depends on the potential of all its regions.
@CuadradoRoura's new review in @JRR_InvRegs shows why #CohesionPolicy matters and why #Europe needs #investment that improves the prospects of all its citizens, wherever they live.

Europe does not need to choose between #competitiveness and #cohesion. Weakening Cohesion Policy in the name of competitiveness would be a strategic mistake.
A more competitive but less cohesive Europe would ultimately be a more fragile Europe.
Europe cannot compete by chasing America's #AI, China's #batteries or Taiwan's chips.
Its strength lies in transforming what it has. In GC&RS, @f_bartalucci & I argue that chasing ghosts abroad is both inefficient & a stress test of the #EU's legitimacy
