Irish politicians tell us they’re “acutely aware” of the cost-of-living crisis, then slap ANOTHER surcharge on ordinary people.
€3 charge per item, plus a €2 surcharge to cover the cost of collecting the €3 charge. You genuinely couldn’t make this shit up.
Buy 5 cheap items online? That’s €25 in charges.
Meanwhile petrol, diesel, electricity, groceries, mortgages and rents are already bleeding families dry.
And spare me the lecture about “buying Irish”. People would LOVE to buy Irish. Many simply cannot afford to.
This won’t suddenly send shoppers flooding into Irish retailers. The same products will still arrive from China. The only guaranteed outcome is that struggling households have even less money.
Stop pretending this is about helping with the cost of living. It’s another reckless tax piled on people who are already budgeting every bloody euro.
