After safely ferrying their children abroad, some unscrupulous politicians are encouraging hapless citizens and thugs to take up weapons to kill one another under the pretext of ‘protecting their votes’. That’s fine.
Let me reiterate what late President Buhari said pre-2019 election (which I supported and I still support): when you resort to self-help and you take up dangerous weapons in the guise of ‘protecting your votes’ and you attack anybody, it is lawful and legitimate for law enforcement agents to ‘neutralise’ you or simple ‘put you down’ in the course of their duty. And the children of the politicians will be watching your foolishness from their safe haven somewhere in the world.

No man is expected to abandon his education, distance himself from his friends or bury his dreams just because he got married. But women are expected to sacrifice their entire identity, ambitions and freedom to become someone’s wife. You told Nigerians we could no longer rely on borrowing. That was your excuse for removing fuel subsidy, to save money for development and to service our debts effectively.
At one point, you even claimed Nigeria does not have a revenue problem.
Yet today, you have borrowed more than all past presidents combined.
They paid subsidy and did not plunge Nigeria into this level of debt. You removed subsidy, have borrowed even more in just three years, can't even fund your own budgets, and have nothing to show for it. To understand this kind of reform, one must be an idiot.

Three years ago, you gave me the privilege of serving as your President. Today, you filled this city again, hundreds of thousands of you from across the North, and I felt the warmth of your support. It was good to return with Vice President Kashim Shettima @officialsksm and our wives to a city that carries so much of our nation’s history.
I remembered the founding leaders who gathered here before independence and prayed that Almighty Allah grants them forgiveness and eternal peace. Then I spoke to you plainly, because you have heard enough speeches.
My opponents talk about hunger and poverty. I asked the crowd today who created these problems. They did. We are the ones working to eradicate them. The subsidy racket, fraudulent invoices and fuel smuggling are firmly behind us, and there is no going back. We confronted what we inherited with courage and political will, and we are building an economy that rewards hard work and creates opportunities for our people.
I know the road has been hard. I hear you. Your sacrifices will not be in vain, and I will not rest until the progress we are making is felt in your homes, your businesses and your pockets.
Our progressive governors are building roads, hospitals, schools and markets across their states, supported by increased revenues from the reforms we undertook. Salaries are being paid regularly, and development is taking shape. I am proud of what they are delivering for our people.
