Probably last post from me this season. Lehigh>BU in PLQF was the direct & proximate cause of the bubble call we had. Attached images: 1 - explanation; 2 - real final RPI; 3 - final RPI if BU>Leh, then Loy>BU; 4 - final RPI if BU>Leh, then BU>Loy (Army still AQ in both scenarios)
Final bracket projection. I would be very surprised if we see anything other than this regarding the bubble call. Reasonably up for debate within this bracket: 1/2, 3/4, 5-7, 8th between Penn State and Hopkins. I'm happy to answer questions. Selection show is at 9:30pm; tune in!
Army wins the Patriot League! They will be on the road in the first round, likely heading to either 'Cuse or Cornell for their first round game.
The bubble is leaning hard toward Yale being last team in. I suspect this our field, aside from waiting for the ASun game to go final.
Tenth Draft Bracketology. Cornell has moved into the T5 in RPI, giving Yale a T5 win. This has flipped my bubble call from yesterday. UMD rooting for SU in final T5 spot. Full list of final RPI order options below. The T6 seed order remains a powder keg - ready to go off. (cont)
Full list of final RPI T20 possibilities. I will give this from the UMD perspective best to worst in terms of winners, since I think they need help here to get in.
Best: Prin/UVA/Loy/AFA
Then, (Prin/UNC/Loy) or (Prin/UVA/Army/AFA)
Then, Prin/UNC/Army
Anything else is Yale imo.
Personal update for any other morning people out there. It is 6:37am, and I am on my second pot of coffee. It is Selection Sunday.
Stony Brook wins the CAA and will be headed to a play-in game.
Robert Morris wins the NEC and will *probably* also be headed to a play-in game.
Because of Towson losing in CAA, either Alb or RMU will avoid the play-in treatment; I lean Albany. Full bracket update in the morning.
Albany wins the America East & is most likely headed to a play-in game (but could avoid that fate if Stony Brook wins the CAA)
Georgetown wins the Big East & will be headed on the road in the first round. They are travel flexible & have a wide variety of locations they could go.
The first tickets are officially punched!
Richmond wins the A10 and should be seeded 4th or 5th tomorrow evening.
Penn State wins the Big Ten and the possibilities are wide: 7th, 8th, or unseeded
Marist wins the MAAC & will be headed to a play-in game possibly against AEC winner
Ninth Draft Bracketology. Main thoughts: 1) seeding among top 6 could shake up a lot the next two days; 2) this is a deeply unpleasant bubble call - no matter who gets it. It looks to me like it's between Maryland & Yale for last spot. UMD should be rooting for Princeton; (cont.)
Conference tourney week cheat sheet, 7:25pm update. UVA locks in. Ignore this bubble order for now re: Harvard/Maryland/Yale, I haven't looked super closely.
Yale can shut all this Harvard/Maryland talk up with a win. Please tune in: this one really matters!
Eighth Draft Bracketology. After a week that I can only describe as watching a data trainwreck happen in slow motion, I come here to tell you that I was wrong to bury Caesar (Duke). Duke moves into the field, but remains relatively unsafely in for now. The only other (cont.)
notable change since Monday is PSU edges UVA for the final seed for now. Key games today: ACCSF - about seeding for ND/UNC/Cuse; UVA locks in (and likely a home game) w/ win. ILSF - Harvard & Yale both really need it for bubble... Next full bracket update: Saturday (tomorrow) am
That's my best guess on where we end Thursday evening. Duke benefits massively from BU being upset by Lehigh on Tuesday (it's a long story). Harvard & Yale are the last 2 bubble teams with a chance to massively shake things up. All eyes should be on the Ivy SFs tomorrow evening.
